Perception of student quality of public and private HEI

Resumo: | This work had as main objective to identify and comparatively analyze the perception of student quality of a public federal university and a private university center. The instrument used addresses seven dimensions of functional quality concerning educational services: market reputation, security, administrative service, interpersonal relationships, infrastructure, educational aspects and academic aspects. 160 valid responses were obtained. The samples were characterized, the reliability of the study was verified, descriptive treatments were carried out by dimension and the final means by entity were identified. The administrative service and infrastructure dimensions obtained the highest and lowest averages, respectively, in the two institutions. There were complaints about the entities' canteens and parking lots. It was found that the private HEI achieved numerically higher averages in all constructs of the instrument and the final average. However, in statistical treatment using the hypothesis test, it was concluded that the differences between the means are not significant. Finally, it was diagnosed a relevant theoretical contribution that may assist in the management of educational services related to the evaluated course. Another highlighted evidence is the need to expand scientific research on the theme of quality in Brazilian higher education. |

El instrumento utilizado captó siete dimensiones de la calidad percibida en relación a los servicios educativos ofertados: reputación mercadológica, seguridad, atendimiento administrativo, relacionamiento interpersonal, infraestructura, aspectos educativos y aspectos académicos. Se obtuvieron 160 respuestas válidas. Se caracterizaron las muestras, se verificó la confiabilidad del estudio, se realizaron los tratamientos descriptivos por dimensión y se identificaron las medias finales por entidad. Las dimensiones atendimiento administrativo e infraestructura obtuvieron las mayores y menores medias respectivamente en las dos instituciones. Se registraron reclamaciones sobre cantinas y estacionamientos de las entidades. Se verificó que la IES privada alcanzó medias numéricamente superiores en todos los constructos del instrumento y en la media final. Sin embargo, en tratamiento estadístico por medio del test de hipótesis, se concluyó que las diferencias entre las medias no presentan significancia. Por fin, se diagnosticó una relevante contribución teórica que podrá auxiliar en la gestión de los servicios educativos referente al curso evaluado. Otra evidencia resaltada es la necesidad de ampliar las investigaciones científicas sobre la temática calidad en la enseñanza superior brasileña.Este trabalho teve como objetivo principal identificar e analisar comparativamente a percepção de qualidade discente de uma universidade federal pública e de um centro universitário privado[1]. O instrumento utilizado captou sete dimensões da qualidade percebida em relação aos serviços educacionais ofertados: reputação mercadológica, segurança, atendimento administrativo, relacionamento interpessoal, infraestrutura, aspectos educacionais e aspectos acadêmicos. Obtiveram-se 160 respostas válidas. Caracterizaram-se as amostras, verificou-se a confiabilidade do estudo, realizaram-se os tratamentos descritivos por dimensão e identificaram-se as médias finais por entidade. As dimensões atendimento administrativo e infraestrutura obtiveram as maiores e menores médias respectivamente nas duas instituições. Registraram-se reclamações sobre cantinas e estacionamentos das entidades. Verificou-se que a IES privada alcançou médias numericamente superiores em todos os construtos do instrumento e na média final. No entanto, em tratamento estatístico por meio do teste de hipótese, concluiu-se que as diferenças entre as médias não apresentaram significância. Por fim, diagnosticou-se uma relevante contribuição teórica que poderá auxiliar na gestão dos serviços educacionais referente ao curso avaliado. Outra evidência ressaltada é a necessidade de ampliação de pesquisas científicas sobre a temática qualidade no ensino superior brasileiro.
