Resumo: Objective: Talk about the immobility syndrome in hospitalized elderly people and the contributions in the physiotherapy service in its prevention. Method: quantitative study of the narrative review type from scientific articles published in the period from 2002 to 2020. Results: nine articles published in the period were included. First, some impacts of hospitalization for elderly patients are described, and then the effects of the physiotherapy service on the health status of hospitalized elderly people are presented. Conclusion: the importance of preventing immobility in older inpatients has been demonstrated. Such a measure results in a significant reduction in the period of hospitalization stay and the deficits that immobilization provides.

Método: estudio cuantitativo del tipo revisión narrativa a partir de artículos científicos publicados en el período 2002 a 2020. Resultados: Se incluyeron nueve artículos publicados en el período. Primero, se describen algunos impactos de la hospitalización de los ancianos y luego se presentan los efectos del servicio de fisioterapia sobre el estado de salud de los ancianos hospitalizados. Conclusión: Se ha demostrado la importancia de prevenir la inmovilidad en pacientes ancianos hospitalizados. Tal medida da como resultado una reducción significativa de lo período de la hospitalización y los déficits que proporciona la inmovilización.Objetivo: Dissertar sobre a síndrome da imobilidade em pessoas idosas hospitalizadas e as contribuições do serviço de fisioterapia em sua prevenção. Método: estudo quantitativo do tipo revisão narrativa a partir de artigos científicos publicados no período de 2002 a 2020. Resultados: foram incluídos nove artigos publicados no período. Primeiramente são descritos alguns impactos da internação hospitalar para os pacientes idosos, e em seguida são apresentados os efeitos do serviço de fisioterapia no estado de saúde de pessoas idosas hospitalizadas. Conclusão: foi demostrada a importância da prevenção da imobilidade no paciente idoso internado.
