Physiotherapy in early stimulation in Down Syndrome: A review study

Resumo: Introduction: Down Syndrome consists of a genetic alteration characterized by the presence of an additional chromosome 21 in all cells of the individual's body, causing them to present several specific physical and mental characteristics, in addition to delays in motor development. In relation to early stimulation, it is a therapeutic technique that addresses various stimuli that can interfere with children's maturity, in order to encourage and facilitate postures that will help develop the motor and cognitive side of children with some limitations, such as Syndrome of Down. Objective: To elucidate evidence that confirms the benefits of early stimulation for children with Down Syndrome. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review, through the analysis and study of articles published in indexed journals, between the years 2018 and 2022, using as reference the databases National Library of Medicine (MEDLINE), Scientific Eletrônic Library Online (SCIELO) and Google Scholar. Results and discussion: The authors of this review contributed substantially to the concept that stimulation can intervene in the child's maturation and facilitate postures that favor the motor and cognitive development of children with Down Syndrome. Conclusion: It was evident that early stimulation is essential for the neural and global maturation of motor development in children with Down syndrome.

En relación a la estimulación temprana, es una técnica terapéutica que aborda diversos estímulos que pueden interferir en la madurez de los niños, con el fin de fomentar y facilitar posturas que ayudarán a desarrollar la parte motriz y cognitiva de niños con algunas limitaciones, como el Síndrome de Down. Objetivo: dilucidar evidencia que confirme los beneficios de la estimulación temprana en niños con Síndrome de Down. Metodología: Se trata de una revisión integradora de la literatura, a través del análisis y estudio de artículos publicados en revistas indexadas, entre los años 2018 y 2022, utilizando como referencia las bases de datos Biblioteca Nacional de Medicina (MEDLINE), Biblioteca Electrónica Científica en Línea (SCIELO) y Google. Erudito. Resultados y discusión: Los autores de esta revisión contribuyeron sustancialmente al concepto de que la estimulación puede intervenir en la maduración del niño y facilitar posturas que favorezcan el desarrollo motor y cognitivo de los niños con Síndrome de Down. Conclusión: Se evidenció que la estimulación temprana es fundamental para la maduración neuronal y global del desarrollo motor en niños con síndrome de Down.Introdução: A Síndrome de Down consiste em uma alteração genética caracterizada pela presença de um cromossomo 21, adicional em todas as células do organismo do indivíduo, levando-o a apresentar várias características físicas e mentais específicas, além do atraso no desenvolvimento motor. Em relação a estimulação precoce, trata-se de uma técnica terapêutica que aborda diversos estímulos que podem interferir na maturidade infantil, a fim de incentivar e facilitar posturas que ajudarão a desenvolver o lado motor e cognitivo de crianças com algumas limitações, como a Síndrome de Down. Objetivo: Elucidar evidências que constatem os benefícios da estimulação precoce para criança com Síndrome de Down. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa de literatura, por meio da análise e estudo em artigos publicados em revistas indexadas, entre os anos de 2018 e 2022, tendo como referência as bases de dados National Library of Medicine (MEDLINE), Scientific Eletrônic Library Online (SCIELO) e Google acadêmico. Resultados e discussão: Os autores desta revisão contribuíram substancialmente com a concepção de que, a estimulação pode intervir na maturação da criança e facilitar posturas que favoreçam o desenvolvimento motor e cognitivo de crianças com Síndrome de Down.
