Multiple uses of water in the Puraquequara River Basin, Manaus, Amazonas

Resumo: | A hydrographic basin is an integral part of the landscape, which allows biophysical, social and territorial planning interactions. This work aimed to identify and characterize the multiple uses of water in the Puraquequara River Basin, in Manaus. For this purpose, the survey of cartographic data was carried out, in addition to consultations on bibliographic materials. Then, two technical visits were made, one during the flood period and the other during the ebb. Thus, it was possible to elaborate thematic maps and image-cards, which allowed to initially identify the uses of water in the basin. In order to identify the other uses, technical visits were made by land and river, covering 7 km of the main river, downstream upstream, acquiring geographic coordinates. The results obtained proved that the Puraquequara river basin has a direct influence on the sustainability of economic activities and subsistence, making the use of water vital for the development of local populations. I find heterogeneous scenarios of use for the basin: irrigation activities, sand exploration, damming of tributaries by means of a dam, excavation of tanks for fish farming are downstream. Upstream, there is a predominance of riverside, floating communities, the meat industry and the shipping industry. |

Este trabajo tuvo como objetivo identificar y caracterizar los múltiples usos del agua en la cuenca del río Puraquequara, en Manaus. Para ello, se realizó el relevamiento de datos cartográficos, además de consultas sobre materiales bibliográficos. Luego, se realizaron dos visitas técnicas, una durante el período de inundaciones y otra durante el reflujo. Así, fue posible la elaboración de mapas temáticos y cartulinas, que permitieron identificar inicialmente los usos del agua en la cuenca. Con el fin de identificar los otros usos, se realizaron visitas técnicas por vía terrestre y fluvial, recorriendo 7 km del río principal, aguas abajo, adquiriendo coordenadas geográficas. Los resultados obtenidos demostraron que la cuenca del río Puraquequara tiene una influencia directa en la sostenibilidad de las actividades económicas y de subsistencia, haciendo que el uso del agua sea vital para el desarrollo de las poblaciones locales. Encuentro escenarios heterogéneos de uso para la cuenca: actividades de riego, exploración de arena, represa de afluentes mediante presa, excavación de tanques para piscicultura son aguas abajo. Aguas arriba, predominan las comunidades ribereñas, flotantes, la industria cárnica y la industria naviera.Uma Bacia Hidrográfica é parte integrante da paisagem, ela possibilita interações biofísicas, sociais e de planejamento territorial. O presente trabalho teve por objetivo identificar e caracterizar os usos múltiplos da água na Bacia Hidrográfica do Rio Puraquequara, em Manaus. Para isso, primeiramente foi realizado o levantamento de dados cartográficos, além de consultas em materiais bibliográficos. Em seguida, foram realizadas duas visitas técnicas, sendo uma no período da cheia e outra durante a vazante. Assim, foi possível a elaboração dos mapas temáticos e cartas-imagens, o que permitiu identificar inicialmente os usos da água na bacia. Para identificação dos demais usos, foram realizadas visitas técnicas por via terrestre e por via fluvial, percorrendo 7 km do rio principal, sentido jusante à montante, adquirindo coordenadas geográficas. Os resultados obtidos comprovaram que a bacia do rio Puraquequara exerce influência direta na sustentabilidade das atividades econômicas e subsistência, tornando-se o uso da água vital para o desenvolvimento das populações locais. Ficou constatado que há cenários heterogêneos de uso para a bacia. Atividades de irrigação, exploração de areia, represamento de afluentes por meio de barramento, escavação de tanques para criação de peixes estão à jusante.
