Resumo: | The aim of this study was to present the possible effects of micronutrient supplementation on the immune response of patients with COVID-19 and its relationship to protection against the coronavirus and its severity. Thus, it is an integrative review, in which searches were carried out in the PubMed, Virtual Health Library (BVS) and ScienceDirect databases, including only scientific articles published in the years 2020 to 2021. For the search key, the terms were considered: “Dietary supplements AND Micronutrients AND Coronavirus infections” and correspondents in Portuguese, where 63 studies were found, of which 12 were selected for review. The analyzed articles presented different types of studies and a diversity of micronutrients involved in the management of COVID-19, thus it was concluded that these nutrients can bring several health benefits and adequate levels of vitamins and minerals suggest less susceptibility to any infection process, including COVID-19. |
