Difficulties experienced by the informal caregiver and their coping skills in the daily care of the elderly with Alzheimer's disease

Resumo: | Objective: to know the difficulties experienced by the caregiver in the daily care of the elderly with Alzheimer's disease. Methodology: a study with exploratory characteristic performed through an integrative literature review, we used the descriptors Alzheimer's disease, elderly health and combined caregivers. Results: it was initially verified in the PUBMED, LILACS, SCIELO and MEDLINE 1,565 publications database and 111 studies were evidenced by the years of publication. From the articles found, after eligibility analysis, 11 articles were selected for the preparation of this review. Conclusion: the difficulties are related to maintaining communication, memory changes, aggressiveness and activities of daily living. It is necessary that caregivers know the disease to understand the patient and, consequently, the possibilities of action (safe and effective) to this patient. This is possible through continuing education and implementation of psychoeducational programs capable of providing information and practical guidance to improve the care offered by caregivers to patients with Alzheimer's disease. |

Resultados: se verificó inicialmente en la base de datos pubmed, LILACS, SCIELO y MEDLINE 1.565 publicaciones y 111 estudios fueron evidenciados por los años de publicación. De los artículos encontrados, después del análisis de elegibilidad, se seleccionaron 11 artículos para la preparación de esta revisión. Conclusión: las dificultades están relacionadas con el mantenimiento de la comunicación, los cambios de memoria, la agresividad y las actividades de la vida diaria. Es necesario que los cuidadores conozcan la enfermedad para entender al paciente y, en consecuencia, las posibilidades de acción (seguras y efectivas) a este paciente. Esto es posible a través de la educación continua y la implementación de programas psicoeducativos capaces de proporcionar información y orientación práctica para mejorar la atención ofrecida por los cuidadores a los pacientes con enfermedad de Alzheimer.Objetivo: conhecer as dificuldades vivenciadas pelo cuidador no cotidiano de cuidar do idoso com doença de Alzheimer. Metodologia: estudo com característica exploratória realizada por meio de uma revisão integrativa de literatura, utilizou-se os descritores doença de alzheimer, saúde do idoso e cuidadores combinados. Resultados: verificou-se inicialmente na base de dados PUBMED, LILACS, SCIELO e MEDLINE 1.565 publicações e ao inserir os anos de publicação evidenciou-se 111 trabalhos. Dos artigos encontrados, após análise de elegibilidade foram selecionados 11 artigos para a elaboração deste revisão. Conclusão: as dificuldades relacionam-se a manter a comunicação, alterações de memória, agressividade e atividades de vida diária. É necessário que os cuidadores conheçam a doença para compreender o paciente e, consequentemente, as possibilidades de atuação (seguras e eficazes) a esse paciente.
