Profile of patients with malignant tumor wounds attended at a university hospital: a descriptive study

Resumo: | Objective: To characterize the clinical and sociodemographic profile of patients with malignant tumor wounds treated at a university hospital. Methodology: This is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach carried out at Hospital Universitário Antonio Pedro between 2014 and 2016. A semi-structured form was applied to record clinical and sociodemographic data from medical records for document analysis and during follow-up of medical consultations. nursing, being analyzed by the average of central tendency. Results: The sample consisted of 13 patients, (76.92%) being female and (23.08%) male, aged between 29 and 75 years, with an average of 59 years. Most were in palliative care (53.83%) with a predominance of Karnofsky Performance Status of 40% (23.08%). Breast cancer was present in (53.85%) of the sample, with etiology of infiltrating ductal carcinoma (46.15%). The lesions were predominantly located in the breast (53.85%), of the malignant ulcerative wound type (53.85%) in stage III (46.15%), with development after tumor resection surgery (30.77%) and spontaneously (30.77%). The following symptoms were recorded: pain (92.30%), exudate (84.62%), bleeding (53.85%) and odor (38.46%), with a predominance of the use of the following wound cover products: mineral oil (69.23%) and Metronidazole (23.08%). Conclusion: Breast cancer and female patients have a higher prevalence of malignant tumor wounds and symptoms. Understanding the profile of patients with these injuries supports care actions tailored to the demands of this clientele. |

Se aplicó un formulario semiestructurado para registrar datos clínicos y sociodemográficos de registros médicos para el análisis de documentos y durante el seguimiento de consultas médicas. enfermería, siendo analizado por el promedio de tendencia central. Resultados: La muestra consistió en 13 pacientes, (76.92%) eran mujeres y (23.08%) hombres, con edades comprendidas entre 29 y 75 años, con un promedio de 59 años. La mayoría estaban en cuidados paliativos (53.83%) con un predominio del estado de rendimiento de Karnofsky del 40% (23.08%). El cáncer de mama estuvo presente en (53.85%) de la muestra, con etiología de carcinoma ductal infiltrante (46.15%). Las lesiones se ubicaron predominantemente en el seno (53.85%), del tipo de herida ulcerosa maligna (53.85%) en estadio III (46.15%), con desarrollo después de la cirugía de resección tumoral (30.77%) y espontáneamente (30,77%). Se registraron los siguientes síntomas: dolor (92.30%), exudado (84.62%), sangrado (53.85%) y olor (38.46%), con predominio del uso de los siguientes productos para cubrir heridas : aceite mineral (69,23%) y metronidazol (23,08%). Conclusión: Los pacientes con cáncer de mama y de mujeres tienen una mayor prevalencia de heridas y síntomas de tumores malignos. Maior parte encontrava-se em cuidados paliativos (53,83%) com predominância de Karnofsky Performance Status de 40% (23,08%). Apresentou-se câncer de mama em (53,85%) da amostra, com etiologia carcinoma ductal infiltrante (46,15%). As lesões localizaram-se predominante em mama (53,85%), do tipo ferida ulcerativa maligna (53,85%) em estadiamento III (46,15%), com desenvolvimento após a cirurgia de ressecção do tumor (30,77%) e espontaneamente (30,77%). Registraram-se os seguintes sintomas: dor (92,30%), exsudato (84,62%), sangramento (53,85%) e odor (38,46%), com predomínio de utilização dos seguintes produtos de cobertura de feridas: óleo mineral (69,23%) e Metronidazol (23,08%). Conclusão: Os pacientes com câncer de mama e do sexo feminino apresentam maior prevalência de feridas tumorais malignas e sintomas.
