Resumo: The watershed is a unit of analysis and planning. The study aimed to carry out a survey of land use and land cover in the middle course of the Itapecuru river basin, MA. For the elaboration of the map of use and coverage of the medium course, the database available from the MapBiomas platform was used. To generate the map, the ArcGis software was used. Field activities were carried out to recognize the main types of use and coverage, obtain aerial images and check mapping information, using a Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA). The middle course of the Itapecuru river basin has different types of land use and cover, the natural vegetation is composed of forest formation (9,822.68 km2), savanna formation (10,217.57 km2) and grassland formation (329.18 km2). The following types of uses were detected: planted forest (17.99 km2), pastures (5,255.95 km2), sugarcane cultivation (0.01 km2), soybean cultivation (51.86 km2), crops storms (101.21 km2) and urbanization (67.05 km2). The study on land use and land cover makes it possible to verify the conditions of the basin, in addition to generating information to support public policies.

El estudio tuvo como objetivo realizar un relevamiento del uso y cobertura del suelo en el curso medio de la cuenca del río Itapecuru, MA. Para la elaboración del mapa de uso y cobertura del curso medio se utilizó la base de datos disponible de la plataforma MapBiomas. Para generar el mapa se utilizó el software ArcGis. Se realizaron actividades de campo para reconocer los principales tipos de uso y cobertura, obtener imágenes aéreas y verificar información cartográfica, utilizando una Aeronave Pilotada a Distancia (RPA). El curso medio de la cuenca del río Itapecuru tiene diferentes tipos de uso y cobertura del suelo, la vegetación natural está compuesta por formación forestal (9.822,68 km2), formación de sabana (10.217,57 km2) y formación de pastizal (329,18 km2) . Se detectaron los siguientes tipos de usos: bosque plantado (17,99 km2), pastizales (5.255,95 km2), cultivo de caña de azúcar (0,01 km2), cultivo de soja (51,86 km2), cultivos temporales (101,21 km2) y urbanización (67,05 km2). El estudio de uso y cobertura del suelo permite verificar las condiciones de la cuenca, además de generar información de apoyo a las políticas públicas.A bacia hidrográfica é unidade de análise e planejamento. O estudo objetivou realizar um levantamento do uso e cobertura da terra no médio curso da bacia hidrográfica do rio Itapecuru, MA. Para elaboração do mapa de uso e cobertura do médio curso, usou-se a base dados disponível da plataforma MapBiomas. Para geração do mapa, foi utilizado o software ArcGis. Realizaram-se atividades de campo para reconhecimento dos principais tipos de uso e cobertura, obtenção de imagens aéreas e checagem das informações do mapeamento, por intermédio de uma Aeronave Remotamente Pilotada (RPA). O médio curso bacia hidrográfica do rio Itapecuru apresenta diferentes tipos de uso e cobertura da terra, a vegetação natural é composta por formação florestal (9.822,68 km2), formação savânicas (10.217,57 km2) e formação campestre (329,18 km2). Foram detectados os seguintes tipos de usos: floresta plantada (17,99 km2), pastagens (5.255,95 km2), cultivo de cana-de-açúcar (0,01 km2), cultivo de soja (51,86 km2), lavouras temporais (101,21 km2) e urbanização (67,05 km2).
