Energy and operational performance in corn sowing: furrowing mechanisms and soil coverings

Resumo: Considering that several factors can influence the sowing process. The objective was to evaluate the energetic and operational performance of the tractor-seeder-fertilizer set in corn sowing as a function of two furrower mechanisms and four soil coverings. The study was carried out at the Agricultural Engineering Department of the Federal University of Ceará - Campus do Pici. The experimental design was in randomized blocks, the treatments consisted of two furrowing mechanisms (disc and shank) and four soil coverings (sunn hemp, sorghum, mombasa grass and uncovered soil) with four replications. The following variables were analyzed: force and power in the drawbar, mobilized area, depth of action of the furrower mechanisms, specific operational resistance, displacement speed, operational field capacity, skidding of the front and rear wheels of the tractor, slippage of the wheel of the seeder-fertilizer, hourly fuel consumption, operational consumption, specific consumption and consumption per mobilized area. The mobilized area was the same for the two types of furrowing mechanisms. The shank type furrower mechanism demanded greater strength and power from the tractor-seeder-fertilizer set and presented larger depth of action, which provided lower displacement speed. Regarding the furrower mechanisms for hourly consumption and operational consumption, there was no statistical difference. Cover plants do not influence the energy and operational performance of the tractor-seeder-fertilizer set, except for slippage of the wheel of the seeder-fertilizer. The disc type furrower mechanism provides better operational and energy performance for the tractor-seeder-fertilizer set, except for specific consumption and specific consumption per mobilized area.

El objetivo fue evaluar el desempeño energético y operativo del conjunto tractor-sembradora-fertilizante en la siembra de maíz en función de dos mecanismos surcadores y cuatro coberturas de suelo. El estudio fue realizado en el Departamento de Ingeniería Agrícola de la Universidad Federal de Ceará - Campus do Pici. El diseño experimental fue en bloques al azar, los tratamientos consistieron en dos mecanismos de surcado (disco y varilla) y cuatro coberturas de suelo (crotalaria, sorgo, pasto mombaça y suelo desnudo) con cuatro repeticiones. Se analizaron las siguientes variables: fuerza y potencia en la barra de tracción, área movilizada, profundidad de acción de los mecanismos surcadores, resistencia operacional específica, velocidad de desplazamiento, capacidad de campo operacional, patinaje de las ruedas delanteras y traseras del tractor, deslizamiento de la rueda de la sembradora-fertilizante, consumo horario de combustible, consumo operacional, consumo específico y consumo por área movilizada. El área movilizada fue la misma para los dos tipos de mecanismos de surcado. El mecanismo surcador varilla exigió mayor fuerza y potencia al conjunto tractor-sembradora-fertilizante y presentó mayor profundidad de acción, lo que proporcionó menor velocidad de desplazamiento. En cuanto a los mecanismos surcadores para consumo horario y consumo operacional no hubo diferencia estadística. Los cultivos de cobertura no influyen en el rendimiento energético y operacional del conjunto tractor-sembradora-fertilizante, excepto por el deslizamiento del conjunto de ruedas sembradora-fertilizante. El mecanismo surcador tipo disco proporcionó un mejor desempeño operacional y energético para el conjunto tractor-sembradora-fertilizante, excepto en consumos específicos y consumos específicos por área movilizada.Considerando que diversos fatores podem influenciar no processo de semeadura. O objetivo foi avaliar o desempenho energético e operacional do conjunto trator-semeadora-adubadora na semeadura do milho em função de dois mecanismos sulcadores e quatro coberturas do solo. O estudo foi conduzido no Departamento de Engenharia Agrícola da Universidade Federal do Ceará - Campus do Pici. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos ao acaso, os tratamentos consistiram em dois mecanismos sulcadores (disco e haste) e quatro coberturas do solo (crotalária, sorgo, capim mombaça e solo sem cobertura) com quatro repetições. As seguintes variáveis foram analisadas: força e potência na barra de tração, área mobilizada, profundidade de atuação dos mecanismos sulcadores, resistência específica operacional, velocidade de deslocamento, capacidade de campo operacional, patinamento dos rodados dianteiro e traseiro do trator, deslizamento do rodado da semeadora-adubadora, consumo horário de combustível, consumo operacional, consumo específico e consumo por área mobilizada. A área mobilizada foi igual para os dois tipos de mecanismos sulcadores. O mecanismo sulcador tipo haste demandou maior força e potência do conjunto trator-semeadora-adubadora e apresentou maior profundidade de atuação, o que proporcionou menor velocidade de deslocamento. Com relação aos mecanismos sulcadores para consumo horário e consumo operacional, não houve diferença estatística. As plantas de cobertura não influenciam no desempenho energético e operacional do conjunto trator-semeadora-adubadora, exceto para o deslizamento do rodado da semeadora-adubadora.
