Self-medication in children from zero to five years: practices of their caregivers/families

Resumo: The aim of this research is know the knowledge and practices about self-medication of caregivers/families of children from 0 to 5 years old. Qualitative research using the Sensitive Creative Method. The data collect begun after approval of the ethics committee, from of the inclusion criteria, with the completion of a questionnaire and after the develop of the Dynamics of Creativity and Sensitivity in a school in the northwest region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul in the year 2016.  15 caregivers/family members participated.  The results is the most of the caregivers/family members had practiced self-medication, the most used medication was of type analgesic and antipyretic, the main health problem that led to self-medication was flu/ cold, the mother is the main person who carries out the self-medication. They use methods to facilitate administration of the drugs. The conclusion is Self-medication is a common practice among caregivers/family members. The nursing inside interdisciplinary team needs to accomplish individual or group orientations for children and their families.

Investigación cualitativa, utilizando el método creativo sensible. La recolección se llevó a cabo después de la aprobación del comité de ética, con base en los criterios de inclusión, al completar un cuestionario y después de llevar a cabo la Dinámica de la Creatividad y la Sensibilidad en una escuela en la región noroeste del estado de Rio Grande do Sul en 2016.  Participaron 15 cuidadores/familiares. Los resultados fueron que la mayoría de los cuidadores/ familiares ya habían practicado la automedicación, la medicación más utilizada fue el paracetamol, el principal problema de salud que condujo a la automedicación fuela gripe/resfriado, la madre es la principal cuidadora que realiza la automedicación. Utilizan métodos para facilitar la administración de drogas. Se concluyó que la automedicación es una práctica común entre los cuidadores/miembros de la familia. En este sentido, la enfermería en un equipo interdisciplinario necesita proporcionar orientación individual o grupal a los cuidadores/familiares de los niños sobre los riesgos de esta práctica.Tem-se como objetivo desta pesquisa conhecer quais as práticas de automedicação dos cuidadores/familiares de crianças de 0 a 5 anos. Pesquisa qualitativa, com a utilização do Método Criativo Sensível. A coleta ocorreu após aprovação do comitê de ética, a partir dos critérios de inclusão, com o preenchimento de um questionário e após a realização das Dinâmicas de Criatividade e Sensibilidade em uma escola da região noroeste do estado do Rio Grande do Sul no ano de 2016.  Participaram 15 cuidadores/familiares. Os resultados foram que a maioria dos cuidadores/familiares já haviam praticado a automedicação, a medicação mais utilizada foi o paracetamol, o principal agravo a saúde que levou a automedicação foi gripe/resfriado, a mãe é a principal cuidadora que realiza a automedicação. Utilizam métodos para facilitar administração dos fármacos.
