Impacts of climatic extremes and land use on hydrology in the Municipality of Cuiabá, Mato Grosso State, Brazil

Resumo: | The monitoring of hydroclimatic variations associated with land use changes is essential in the analysis of risks and prevention of natural disasters. The objective of the study is to analyze the relationship between climatic indexes and precipitation, and is with the fluvial regime over a period of 34 years (1983-2016), observing the changes in land use (1988-2018) in the municipality of Cuiabá- MT. Climate index data from the National Oceanic and Administration Atmospheric were used; hydrological data from the National Water Agency; estimated rainfall data from the Global Precipitation Climatology Center and land use from the MapBiomas Project. The data was organized and the statistical adjustment indexes were calculated, in addition to using geoprocessing tools from the Geographic Information System to produce the land use map. In some extreme years, the influence of climate on local precipitation was observed. Hydrometeorological seasonality was characterized in the rainy seasons (Nov-Mar) and the dry season (Abr-Out); and the rain spatialization increasing in the west-east direction, with the validation of the data (measured x estimated) with excellent adjustment. Land use showed intense deforestation due to the advance of pasture areas. The river system showed decreasing trends, even with the increasing rainfall regime and the use of land favoring the increase in the flow of water discharge. |

El objetivo del estudio es analizar la relación de los índices climáticos con la precipitación, y es con el régimen fluvial durante un período de 34 años (1983-2016), observando los cambios en el uso del suelo (1988-2018) en el municipio de Cuiabá- MONTE. Se utilizaron datos del índice climático del National Oceanic and Administration Atmospheric; datos hidrológicos de la Agencia Nacional del Agua; datos estimados de lluvia del Centro Global de Climatología de Precipitación y uso de la tierra del Proyecto MapBiomas. Se organizaron los datos y se calcularon los índices de ajuste estadístico, además de usar herramientas de geoprocesamiento del Sistema de Información Geográfica para producir el mapa de uso de la tierra. En algunos años extremos, se observó la influencia del clima en la precipitación local. La estacionalidad hidrometeorológica se caracterizó en las estaciones lluviosas (noviembre-marzo) y la estación seca (Abr-Out); y la espacialización de la lluvia aumenta en la dirección oeste-este, con la validación de los datos (medidos x estimados) con un excelente ajuste. El uso de la tierra mostró una deforestación intensa debido al avance de las áreas de pastoreo. El sistema fluvial mostró tendencias decrecientes, incluso con el aumento del régimen de lluvias y el uso de tierras que favorecen el aumento en el flujo de descarga de agua.O monitoramento das variações hidroclimáticas associadas as mudanças do uso da terra é fundamental na análise de riscos e prevenções de desastres naturais. O objetivo do estudo é analisar a relação dos índices climáticos com a precipitação, e está com o regime fluvial em um período de 34 anos (1983-2016), observando as mudanças do uso da terra (1988-2018) no Município de Cuiabá no Estado do Mato Grasso (MT). Utilizou-se dados de índices climáticos da National Oceanic and Administration Atmospheric; dados hidrológicos da Agência Nacional das Águas; dados estimados de chuva do Global Precipitation Climatology Center e de uso da terra do Projeto MapBiomas. Organizou-se os dados e calculou-se os índices estatísticos de ajuste, além de usar ferramentas de geoprocessamento do Sistema de Informação Geográfica para produção do mapa de uso da terra. Observou-se em alguns anos extremos a influência do clima na precipitação local. A sazonalidade hidrometeorológica caracterizou-se nas estações chuvosas (Nov-Mar) e a época da estiagem (Abr-Out); e a espacialização pluvial aumentando no sentido oeste-leste, sendo a validação dos dados (medidos x estimados) com excelente ajuste. O uso da terra mostrou o intenso desmatamento devido o avanço das áreas de pasto.
