The instructional therapeutic toy as a tool in child cancer care

Resumo: Use of the therapeutic toy during the child hospitalization process provides an effective communication between the professional and the child and also provides comprehensive care, which uses interventions that reduce or eliminate the physical and psychological suffering experienced by the children and their families, thus providing more humanized care. This study aimed to describe the experiences of nursing students on educational assistance activities carried out in a children's cancer hospital through the use of instructional therapeutic toys. This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach in the experience report modality, under the theoretical and methodological basis of the problematization of the Arco de Maguerez, which consists of five stages, namely: 1 - Observation of Reality; 2 - Survey of key points; 3 - Theorization; 4 - Solution Hypotheses and 5 - Return to Reality. It was decided to carry out educational actions focusing on the therapeutic need of children to develop an effective confrontation about the procedures performed. As main results, the therapeutic toy proved to be an efficient device for the preparation and social, intellectual and emotional development of the child even during hospitalization, with the reduction of tension and the mitigation of feelings such as fear and insecurity. Based on the above, the relevance of assistance aimed at the user is emphasized, based on a holistic view and in a welcoming care, with innovative and playful ways in order to promote the resignification of the child hospitalization process.

Este estudio tuvo como objetivo describir las experiencias de los estudiantes de enfermería en actividades de asistencia educativa realizadas en un hospital oncológico infantil mediante el uso de juguetes terapéuticos de instrucción. Es un estudio descriptivo con enfoque cualitativo en la modalidad de informe de experiencia, bajo la base teórica y metodológica de la problematización del Arco de Maguerez, que consta de cinco etapas, a saber: 1 - Observación de la realidad; 2 - Encuesta de puntos clave; 3 - Teorización; 4 - Hipótesis de solución y 5 - Regreso a la realidad. Se decidió llevar a cabo acciones educativas centradas en la necesidad terapéutica de los niños para desarrollar una confrontación efectiva sobre los procedimientos realizados. Como resultados principales, el juguete terapéutico demostró ser un dispositivo eficiente para la preparación y el desarrollo social, intelectual y emocional del niño, incluso durante la hospitalización, con la reducción de la tensión y la mitigación de sentimientos como el miedo y la inseguridad. Con base en lo anterior, se enfatiza la relevancia de la asistencia dirigida al usuario, basada en una visión holística y en una atención acogedora, con formas innovadoras y lúdicas para promover un nuevo significado en el proceso de hospitalización infantil.O uso do brinquedo terapêutico durante o processo de internação infantil proporciona uma comunicação efetiva entre profissional e a criança e prevê ainda uma assistência integral, a qual usa intervenções que diminuam ou eliminam o sofrimento físico e psicológico experimentado pela as crianças e seus familiares, logo propicia um cuidado mais humanizado. Com este estudo, objetivou-se descrever as vivências de acadêmicos de enfermagem sobre atividades educativas assistenciais realizada em um hospital oncológico infantil através do uso de brinquedos terapêuticos instrucionais. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo com abordagem qualitativa na modalidade relato de experiência, sob a fundamentação teórica e metodológica da problematização do Arco de Maguerez, o qual é composto por cinco etapas, a saber: 1 – Observação da Realidade; 2 – Levantamento de Pontos-chave; 3 – Teorização; 4 – Hipóteses de Solução e 5 – Retorno a Realidade. Decidiu-se realizar ações educativas focando na necessidade terapêutica das crianças para desenvolverem um enfrentamento eficaz acerca dos procedimentos realizados. Como principais resultados o brinquedo terapêutico mostrou-se um eficiente dispositivo para o preparo e desenvolvimento social, intelectual e emocional da criança até mesmo durante a internação, com a redução de tensão e a mitigação de sentimentos como medo e insegurança.
