Non-pharmacological pain reliefing methods used during birth labour: An integrative research review

Resumo: Childbirth always represented an important experience for most women. But it carries the myth of being painful, which makes cesarean to become the most frequent birth method. Humanized Childbirth is associated to the use of non-pharmacological methods, therefore, nursing play a fundamental role in promoting humanized birth. So, this study aims to carry out an integrative research review concerning non-pharmacological methods used to relief mother’s and baby’s pain at birth labor and, furthermore, to promote recommendations to professionals and mothers, based on scientific evidences. Using criteria for inclusion and exclusion the PICO strategy. The study shows that pain in labor is not restricted to the physiological process. It is also related to fear, tension, fatigue, cold, hunger, loneliness, among other factors, and the use of non-pharmacological methods had positive effects on the humanized delivery care, as they are safer, less invasive and provided pain relief. Professionals must be kept up-to-date on behalf of promoting changes at nursing procedures, helping childbirth to be as humanized as possible.

Sin embargo, el trae el mito de ser una experiencia dolorosa, situación que pone la cesárea como el método de parto más utilizado. La humanización del parto se asocia al uso de métodos no farmacológicos. La enfermería tiene un papel fundamental en la promoción del parto humanizado, así esta pesquisa tuvo como objetivo llevar a cabo una revisión integradora de la literatura acerca de los métodos no farmacológicos utilizados para el alivio del dolor en el parto y promover recomendaciones para los profesionales y las madres, con lastro en evidencias científicas. El uso de criterios de inclusión y exclusión de la estrategia PICO. El estudio muestra que el dolor en la mano de obra no se limita al proceso fisiológico. También se relaciona con el miedo, la tensión, la fatiga, el frío, el hambre, la soledad, entre otros factores y el uso de métodos no farmacológicos tuvo efectos positivos en la atención del parto humanizado, ya que son más seguros, menos invasiva y proporcionan alivio del dolor. Mantener-se actualizado es una obligación de todos los profesionales, para que así puedan contribuir a la humanización del parto.O parto sempre representou uma experiência muito importante para as mulheres. Porém, ele traz consigo o mito de ser doloroso. O que acarretou a utilização do parto cesáreo tornar-se mais frequente, no intuito da parturiente não vivenciar a dor do parto normal. A humanização do parto está associada à utilização dos métodos não farmacológicos, e, sendo assim, a enfermagem têm papel fundamental na promoção do parto humanizado. Neste sentido, o objetivo deste estudo foi realizar uma revisão integrativa da literatura sobre os métodos não farmacológicos utilizados para alívio da dor no parto e promover recomendações para os profissionais e parturientes, com base em evidências científicas, utilizando como critérios de inclusão e exclusão a estratégia PICO. O estudo mostra que a dor no trabalho de parto não se restringe apenas com o processo fisiológico, ela também está relacionada ao medo, à tensão, à fadiga, ao frio, à fome, à solidão, dentre outros fatores, e que a utilização dos métodos não farmacológicos surtiu efeitos positivos na assistência do parto humanizado, pois estes são mais seguros, menos invasivos e proporcionaram alívio da dor.
