Identification of potable water contamination sources by nitrate in the states of Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo

Resumo: The presence and contamination of groundwater by nitrate is still a little studied subject mainly focusing on public health. Thus, this work aims to identify and evaluate the sources of nitrate contamination of drinking water in Minas Gerais and São Paulo, based on field research and analyzes of the Water Quality Surveillance Information System for Human Consumption ( Sisagua), which is a tool of the National Water Quality Surveillance Program (Vigiagua) to manage the health risks associated with the quality of water intended for human consumption. The results of the evaluation of nitrate concentrations in the waters distributed and consumed by the population in Minas Gerais come mainly from pastures, followed by crops, in São Paulo predominantly from industries followed by pastures.

Por lo tanto, este trabajo tiene como objetivo identificar y evaluar las fuentes de contaminación por nitratos del agua potable en Minas Gerais y São Paulo, con base en investigaciones de campo y análisis del Sistema de Información de Vigilancia de la Calidad del Agua para el Consumo Humano Sisagua), que es una herramienta del Programa Nacional de Vigilancia de la Calidad del Agua (Vigiagua) para gestionar los riesgos para la salud asociados con la calidad del agua destinada al consumo humano. Los resultados de la evaluación de las concentraciones de nitrato en las aguas distribuidas y consumidas por la población en Minas Gerais provienen principalmente de pastos, seguidas de cultivos, en São Paulo predominantemente de industrias seguidas de pastos.A presença e a contaminação das águas subterrâneas por nitrato é ainda um tema pouco estudado principalmente com foco na saúde pública. Assim, este trabalho tem por objetivo a identificação e avaliação das fontes de contaminação da água potável por nitrato em Minas Gerais e São Paulo, a partir de pesquisas de campo e das análises do Sistema de Informação de Vigilância da Qualidade da Água para Consumo Humano (Sisagua), que é uma ferramenta do Programa Nacional de Vigilância da Qualidade da Água para consumo Humano (Vigiagua) para gerenciar os riscos à saúde associados à qualidade da água destinada ao consumo humano.
