Resumo: Objective: to analyze the historical series in the period from 2008 to 2018 of the prevalence of hospitalization for venous ulcers in adults in Brazil, in the State of Rio Grande do Sul and in the municipality of Santa Maria. Method: documentary epidemiological study, historical series of the prevalence of hospital admissions for venous ulcers in the last 10 years. Results: when comparing the three locations, it is evident that in the state of Rio Grande do Sul there is a higher prevalence of hospital admissions, female and aged 50 to 59 years. Conclusion: Venous ulcers are lesions that require a varied demand for care and represent a long period of treatment, being able to be accompanied by professionals working in PHC, especially those in Nursing.

Resultados: al comparar los tres lugares, es evidente que en el estado de Rio Grande do Sul hay una mayor prevalencia de ingresos hospitalarios, mujeres y de 50 a 59 años. Conclusión: las úlceras venosas son lesiones que requieren una demanda variada de atención y representan un largo período de tratamiento, y pueden ser acompañadas por profesionales que trabajan en APS, especialmente aquellos en enfermería.Objetivo: analisar a série histórica no período de 2008 à 2018 da prevalência de internação hospitalar por úlcera venosa em adultos no Brasil, no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul e no município de Santa Maria. Método: estudo epidemiológico documental, série histórica da prevalência de internações hospitalares por úlcera venosa no período de 2008 à 2018. Resultados: ao comparar os três locais evidencia-se que no estado do Rio Grande do Sul há maior prevalência de internação hospitalar, do sexo feminino e faixa etária de 50 à 59 anos.
