Resumo: | This is an integrative review study with the objective of identifying the risks to the safety of elderly patients with dementia. The research took place in the Medline, Bdenf and Lilacs databases, covering complete articles in electronic format, in english, Portuguese and Spanish in the period from 2015 to 2020. After the analysis according to the study criteria, 29 articles were selected that constituted the sample of this review. The risks found were analyzed from the perspective of patient safety and described in eight categories involving the international patient safety goals of the World Health Organization, the risks of functional losses related to cognitive deterioration, the risks of functional loss associated with psychological changes and behavioral of dementia and security risks associated with hospitalization. The identification of security risks for the elderly with dementia is fundamental for the management of safe care. The progression of cognitive deficit predisposes the elderly individual with dementia to risks that can be prevented or mitigated through the perspective of patient-centered care. |

Se trata de un estudio de revisión integradora con el objetivo de identificar los riesgos para la seguridad de los pacientes ancianos con demencia. La investigación se llevó a cabo en las bases de datos Medline, Bdenf y Lilacs, cubriendo artículos completos en formato electrónico, en inglés, portugués y español en el período de 2015 a 2020. Tras el análisis según los criterios del estudio, se seleccionaron 29 artículos que constituyeron la muestra. de esta revisión. Los riesgos encontrados se analizaron desde la perspectiva de la seguridad del paciente y se describieron en ocho categorías que involucran las metas internacionales de seguridad del paciente de la Organización Mundial de la Salud, los riesgos de pérdidas funcionales relacionadas con el deterioro cognitivo, los riesgos de pérdida funcional asociados con síntomas psicológicos y conductuales de la demencia y riesgos de seguridad asociados con la hospitalización. La identificación de los riesgos de seguridad de las personas mayores con demencia es fundamental para la gestión de una atención segura. La progresión del déficit cognitivo predispone al anciano con demencia a riesgos que pueden prevenirse o mitigarse desde la perspectiva de la atención centrada en el paciente.Trata se de um estudo de Revisão integrativa com o objetivo de identificar os riscos à segurança do paciente idoso com demência. A pesquisa aconteceu nas bases de dados Medline, Bdenf e Lilacs, abrangendo artigos completos em formato eletrônico, em inglês português e espanhol no período de 2015 a 2020. Após a análise de acordo com os critérios do estudo foram selecionados 29 artigos que constituíram a amostra desta revisão. Os riscos encontrados foram analisados na perspectiva da segurança do paciente e descritos em oito categorias envolvendo as metas internacionais de segurança do paciente da Organização Mundial de Saúde, os riscos de perdas funcionais relacionadas a deterioração cognitiva, os riscos de perda funcional associadas as alterações psicológicas e comportamentais das demências e aos riscos à segurança associados a internação. A identificação dos riscos à segurança do idoso com demência é fundamental para a gestão do cuidado seguro.
