Resumo: Working capital is a necessary financial resource to support the operational activities of a company, such as financing sales in installments, maintaining adequate inventory levels, paying suppliers, taxes, salaries, in addition to other expenses and operating costs. The inadequate management of this capital exposes the organization to several risks, among them the absence of liquidity and a fall in profitability, which may compromise its sustainability. Thus, this research is concerned with describing the factors that most influence the working capital management of micro and small enterprises in the furniture sector of Cláudio, MG. To reach this objective, a descriptive and exploratory research was carried out with a quantitative and qualitative approach. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire applied to an intentional sample of 7 furniture micro and small enterprises from Cláudio, MG. After analyzing the data, it was concluded that most of the companies surveyed neither knew nor used in a systematized manner all the necessary tools for efficient working capital management.

La gestión inadecuada de ese capital expone a la organización a diversos riesgos, entre ellos la ausencia de liquidez y caída de la rentabilidad, pudiendo comprometer su sostenibilidad. Así, esta investigación se detiene a describir los factores que más influencian en la administración del capital de giro de las micro y pequeñas empresas - MPEs del sector del mueble de Cláudio, MG. Para el logro de este objetivo, se realizó una investigación descriptiva y exploratoria con abordaje cuantitativo y cualitativo. El instrumento de recolección de datos fue un cuestionario aplicado a una muestra intencional de 7 MPEs del sector del mueble de Cláudio, MG. Después del análisis de los datos se concluyó que gran parte de las empresas encuestadas no conocían o no utilizaban de forma sistematizada todas las herramientas necesarias para una gestión eficiente del capital de trabajo.Capital de giro é um recurso financeiro necessário para suportar as atividades operacionais de uma empresa, tais como financiar as vendas a prazo, manter níveis adequados de estoques, pagar fornecedores, impostos, salários, além de outras despesas e custos operacionais. A gestão inadequada desse capital expõe a organização a diversos riscos, entre eles a ausência de liquidez e queda da lucratividade, podendo comprometer a sua sustentabilidade. Assim, esta pesquisa se detém a descrever os fatores que mais influenciam na administração do capital de giro das micro e pequenas empresas - MPEs do setor moveleiro de Cláudio, MG. Para o atingimento deste objetivo, realizou-se uma pesquisa descritiva e exploratória com abordagem quantitativa e qualitativa. O instrumento de coleta de dados foi um questionário aplicado a uma amostra intencional de 7 MPEs do setor moveleiro de Cláudio, MG.
