Resumo: Reproductive traits relatively have low or medium heritability and do not exhibit a remarkable response to phenotypic selection. Therefore, the inclusion of genetic information from genes associated with reproductive capacity can efficiently improve the selection response. The main important genes affecting prolificacy and their genetic diversity in different breeds of sheep have been studied on a global scale. Where, different mutations associated with reproductive traits, including ovulation rate and litter size, have been found in various sheep breeds around the world. An overview of studies on major proliferation genes showed that some alleles may express different phenotypic effects in different breeds and therefore, further studies on interaction effects are needed for a greater understanding of the genetic control of reproduction in sheep. Regarding the evaluation methodology for prolificacy traits, the application of new technologies is necessary to find new variants, which is essential for future studies. The methodology adopted was a descriptive study, resulting in a literature review based on worldwide scientific articles.

Por lo tanto, la inclusión de la información genética de los genes asociados a la capacidad reproductiva puede mejorar eficazmente la respuesta de selección. Se han estudiado a escala mundial los principales genes importantes que afectan a la prolificidad y su diversidad genética en diferentes razas de ovejas. En varias razas de ovejas de todo el mundo se han encontrado diferentes mutaciones asociadas a rasgos reproductivos, como la tasa de ovulación y el tamaño de la camada. Una visión general de los estudios sobre los principales genes de la proliferación mostró que algunos alelos pueden expresar diferentes efectos fenotípicos en diferentes razas y, por lo tanto, se necesitan más estudios sobre los efectos de interacción para una mayor comprensión del control genético de la reproducción en las ovejas. En cuanto a la metodología de evaluación de los rasgos de prolificidad, se hace necesaria la aplicación de nuevas tecnologías para encontrar nuevas variantes, lo que es esencial para futuros estudios. La metodología adoptada fue un estudio descriptivo, que dio lugar a una revisión bibliográfica basada en artículos científicos de todo el mundo.As características de reprodução relativamente têm baixa ou média herdabilidade e não exibem uma resposta notável à seleção fenotípica. Portanto, a inclusão de informações genéticas dos genes associados à capacidade reprodutiva pode melhorar eficientemente a resposta de seleção. Os principais genes importantes que afetam a prolificidade e suas diversidades genéticas em diferentes raças de ovelhas vem sendo estudados em uma escala global. Onde, diferentes mutações associadas as características reprodutivas, incluindo taxa de ovulação e tamanho da ninhada, foram encontradas em várias raças de ovelhas em todo o mundo. Uma visão geral dos estudos sobre os principais genes da prolificidade mostrou que alguns alelos podem expressar diferentes efeitos fenotípicos em diferentes raças e, portanto, estudos adicionais sobre efeitos de interação são necessários para uma maior compreensão do controle genético da reprodução em ovinos. Com relação a metodologia de avaliação para as características de prolificidade, a aplicação de novas tecnologias torna-se necessário para encontrar novas variantes, que é essencial para estudos futuros.
