Challenges of the nurses in palliative care in pediatric oncology

Resumo: Palliative care (CP) is characterized as active care that encompasses the body, mind and spiritual issues. In pediatrics they are often used for patients in severe health and life-limiting conditions such as cancer. Due to the complexity and the long period of treatment, professionals face some barriers to providing quality care, specifically the nurse, as the professional responsible for patient care. The aim of the study is to investigate through scientific evidence the challenges of the role of nurses in the oncopediatric patient undergoing palliative care. The integrative research method was used, where 16 articles available in full from 2015 to 2020, selected from the Virtual Health Library VHL, are part of the analyzed sample. The results showed the main difficulties in the provision of PC, with the majority being questions related to education. It is concluded that there is a great need for investment and updates in the training and clinical practice of nursing professionals.

En pediatría, a menudo se utilizan para pacientes en condiciones graves de salud y que limitan la vida, como el cáncer. Debido a la complejidad y el largo período de tratamiento, los profesionales enfrentan algunas barreras para brindar una atención de calidad, específicamente la enfermera, como profesional responsable de la atención al paciente. El objetivo del estudio es investigar a través de la evidencia científica los desafíos del papel del enfermero en el paciente oncopediatrico en cuidados paliativos. Se utilizó el método de investigación integradora, donde 16 artículos disponibles en su totalidad de 2015 a 2020, seleccionados de la Biblioteca Virtual en Salud BVS, forman parte de la muestra analizada. Los resultados mostraron las principales dificultades en la provisión de CP, siendo la mayoría cuestiones relacionadas con la educación. Se concluye que existe una gran necesidad de inversión y actualización en la formación y práctica clínica de los profesionales de enfermería.Os cuidados paliativos (CP) são caracterizados como a assistência ativa que engloba o corpo, mente e questões espirituais. Na pediatria são frequentemente utilizados para pacientes em estados graves de saúde e limitantes a vida como o câncer. Devido à complexidade e o longo período de tratamento os profissionais encontram algumas barreiras para a prestação de uma assistência de qualidade em especifico o enfermeiro por ser o profissional responsável pelo cuidado ao paciente. Objetiva-se por meio do estudo investigar através das evidencias cientificas os desafios da atuação do enfermeiro frente ao paciente oncopediátrico em tratamento paliativo. Foi utilizado o método de pesquisa integrativa, onde 16 artigos disponíveis na integra no período de 2015 a 2020, selecionados na Biblioteca virtual em saúde BVS, integram a amostra analisada. Os resultados demonstraram as principais dificuldades a prestação dos CP, sendo a maioria questões voltadas a educação.
