Assessment of food consumption and socioeconomic conditions of patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy in the interior of Paraíba

Resumo: The hemodialysis patient undergoes numerous changes in diet. Food has an influence on the prognosis of renal patients undergoing hemodialysis and socioeconomic factors can determine food choice and adherence to treatment. From then on, the objective was to evaluate the socioeconomic conditions and food consumption of patients on chronic hemodialysis in the city of Patos, Paraíba. This is a cross-sectional study, with a quantitative approach, carried out with 29 adult patients, with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis, attended at the hemodialysis center. The patients 'dietary and socioeconomic parameters were assessed using a questionnaire that was answered through individual interviews during the hemodialysis session and the assessment of existing comorbidities was defined after analysis of the patients' medical records. The results obtained showed that these were patients with a compromised socioeconomic profile, who had access to basic guidelines on food, due to the monitoring at the service, however, most of them had meals outside the home, which often made their choices impossible, as well as the limitation caused by the factor. Their nutritional status is strongly correlated with the existing pathology and the psychoemotional state.

Los alimentos influyen en el pronóstico de los pacientes renales sometidos a hemodiálisis y los factores socioeconómicos pueden determinar la elección de los alimentos y la adherencia al tratamiento. A partir de entonces, el objetivo fue evaluar las condiciones socioeconómicas y el consumo de alimentos de pacientes en hemodiálisis crónica en la ciudad de Patos, Paraíba. Este es un estudio transversal, con un enfoque cuantitativo, realizado con 29 pacientes adultos, con enfermedad renal crónica en hemodiálisis, atendidos en el centro de hemodiálisis. Los parámetros dietéticos y socioeconómicos de los pacientes se evaluaron mediante un cuestionario que se respondió a través de entrevistas individuales durante la sesión de hemodiálisis y la evaluación de las comorbilidades existentes se definió después de analizar los registros médicos de los pacientes. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron que se trataba de pacientes con un perfil socioeconómico comprometido, que tenían acceso a pautas básicas sobre alimentos, debido al monitoreo en el servicio, sin embargo, la mayoría de ellos tienen comidas fuera del hogar, lo que a menudo hace que sus elecciones sean imposibles, así como la limitación causada por el factor Su estado nutricional está fuertemente correlacionado con la patología existente y el estado psicoemocional.O paciente em hemodiálise sofre inúmeras modificações na alimentação. A alimentação exerce influência sobre o prognóstico de doentes renais sob terapia hemodialítica e os fatores socioeconômicos podem determinar a escolha alimentar e adesão ao tratamento. A partir de então se objetivou avaliar as condições socioeconômicas e o consumo alimentar de pacientes em hemodiálise crônica do município de Patos, Paraíba. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, de abordagem quantitativa, realizado com 29 pacientes adultos, com doença renal crônica em tratamento hemodialítico, atendidos no centro de hemodiálise. Os parâmetros dietéticos e socioeconômicos dos pacientes foram avaliados a partir de um questionário que foi respondido por meio de entrevistas individuais durante a sessão de hemodiálise e a avaliação das comorbidades existentes foram definidas após análise dos prontuários dos pacientes. Os resultados obtidos mostraram se tratar de pacientes com perfil socioeconômico comprometido, que tinham acesso a orientações básicas sobre alimentação, devido ao acompanhamento no serviço, porém, a maioria afirmou realizar refeições fora de casa o que impossibilitava muitas vezes suas escolhas, bem como a limitação ocasionada pelo fator.
