Effect of resveratrol supplementation on muscle damage in animal model: an integrative review

Resumo: Introduction: Several functional properties have been proposed for Resveratrol and its natural analogues, such as its antioxidant potential, which can be related to the improvement of muscle damage. Objective: to investigate the effect of Resveratrol supplementation and natural analogues on skeletal muscle damage in animal model. Methodology: The studies were selected in May 2019 from Pubmed, Science direct, and Web of science databases, using the Boolean method in accordance with the inclusion criteria. Results: After the process of choosing and analyzing the articles, eight studies were selected to be included in this integrative review. The supplementation doses ranged from 2 to 25mg / kg for the injectable form and 15 to 100mg / kg for the oral form. Follow-up time ranged from 1 to 24 weeks. The results demonstrated a positive effect of resveratrol supplementation on skeletal muscle damage in all articles examined. Conclusion: The findings obtained in this review point to the benefits of using resveratrol as an important ally in the treatment and prevention of skeletal muscle damage.

Objetivo: investigar el efecto de la suplementación con resveratrol y análogos naturales sobre el daño del músculo esquelético en un modelo animal. Metodología: Los artículos fueron seleccionados en mayo de 2019 de las bases de datos de Pubmed, Science direct y Web of Science, utilizando el método booleano según los criterios de inclusión establecidos. Resultados: Tras el proceso de elección y análisis de los artículos, se seleccionaron ocho estudios para componer la revisión integradora. Las dosis de suplementación variaron de 2 a 25 mg / kg en forma inyectable y de 15 a 100 mg / kg en forma oral. El tiempo de seguimiento osciló entre 1 y 24 semanas. Los resultados demostraron un efecto positivo de la suplementación con resveratrol sobre el daño del músculo esquelético en todos los artículos utilizados. Conclusión: Los hallazgos obtenidos a través de esta revisión apuntan a los beneficios de usar resveratrol como un aliado importante en el tratamiento y prevención del daño del músculo esquelético.Introdução: Tem sido proposto diversas propriedades funcionais ao Resveratrol e seus análogos naturais, a exemplo do seu potencial antioxidante, o qual pode relacionar-se com a melhora do dano muscular. Objetivo: investigar o efeito da suplementação de Resveratrol e análogos naturais no dano muscular esquelético em modelo animal. Metodologia: Os artigos foram selecionados em maio de 2019 a partir das bases de dados da Pubmed, Science direct e Web of Science, utilizando o método booleanos de acordo com os critérios de inclusão estabelecidos. Resultados: Após o processo de escolha e análise dos artigos, oito estudos foram selecionados para compor a revisão integrativa. As doses de suplementação variaram entre 2 a 25mg/kg na forma injetável e 15 a 100mg/kg na forma oral. O tempo de seguimento variou entre 1 a 24 semanas. Os resultados demonstraram efeito positivo da suplementação do resveratrol no dano muscular esquelético em todos os artigos utilizados.
