Metabolic dynamics of lambs fed diets containing increasing levels of crude glycerin to replace corn

Resumo: The objective was to evaluate the effects of the inclusion of crude glycerin containing 80.5% glycerol on the blood parameters of lambs in confinement. 39 crossbred lambs, without a defined breed standard, non-castrated males, with four months of age and initial body weight of 21 kg ± 0.8 kg, were distributed in randomized blocks with four treatments and ten repetitions with levels of inclusion of 0, 6, 12 and 18% crude glycerin in the dry matter (DM) of the diet. Blood samples were taken to analyze different biomarkers on the 650 day of the experiment. There were no significant effects of the inclusion of crude glycerin to replace corn in the lambs diet in relation to the different biomarkers of the protein, mineral and enzymatic activity. Regarding the energy profile, a significant effect was identified only for the plasma glucose concentration (p=0.0003). In the regression analysis of the plasma glucose concentration of lambs, depending on the level of consumption of crude glycerin associated with urea to replace corn, it was found that the greater the inclusion of crude glycerin in the diet, the greater the blood glucose (r=0,92; p<0001). The increasing amount of crude glycerin in the diet of lambs growing to replace corn has a gluconeogenic character, in addition to that it does not cause metabolic alteration of parameters related to the energy, protein, mineral and enzymatic activity profile. Crude glycerin can be supplied up to 18% for promoting an adequate metabolic response.

Crude glycerin can be supplied up to 18% for promoting an adequate metabolic response.El objetivo fue evaluar los efectos de la inclusión de glicerina cruda que contiene 80.5% de glicerol en los parámetros sanguíneos de corderos en confinamiento. 39 corderos cruzados, sin un estándar de raza definido, machos no castrados, con cuatro meses de edad y un peso corporal inicial de 21 kg ± 0.8 kg, se distribuyeron en bloques al azar con cuatro tratamientos y diez repeticiones con niveles de inclusión de 0, 6, 12 y 18% de glicerina cruda en la materia seca (DM) de la dieta. Se tomaron muestras de sangre para analizar diferentes biomarcadores en el día 650 del experimento. No hubo efectos significativos de la inclusión de glicerina cruda para reemplazar el maíz en la dieta del cordero en relación con los diferentes biomarcadores de la actividad proteica, mineral y enzimática. Con respecto al perfil de energía, se identificó un efecto significativo solo para la concentración de glucosa en plasma (p=0,0003). En el análisis de regresión de la concentración de glucosa en plasma de los corderos, dependiendo del nivel de consumo de glicerina cruda asociada con la urea para reemplazar el maíz, se encontró que cuanto mayor es la inclusión de glicerina cruda en la dieta, mayor es la glucosa en sangre (r=0,92; p<0001). La creciente cantidad de glicerina cruda en la dieta de corderos que crecen para reemplazar el maíz tiene un carácter gluconeogénico, además de que no causa alteración metabólica de los parámetros relacionados con el perfil de actividad energética, proteica, mineral y enzimática. La glicerina cruda se puede suministrar hasta un 18% para promover una respuesta metabólica adecuada.Objetivou-se avaliar os efeitos da inclusão de glicerina bruta contendo 80,5% de glicerol sobre os parâmetros sanguíneos de cordeiros em confinamento. Utilizaram-se 39 cordeiros mestiços, sem padrão de raça definido, machos não castrados, com quatro meses de idade e peso corporal inicial de 21 kg±0,8 Kg, distribuídos em blocos casualizados a quatro tratamentos e dez repetições com níveis de inclusão de 0, 6, 12 e 18% de glicerina bruta na matéria seca (MS) da dieta. Coletas de sangue foram realizadas para análise de diferentes biomarcadores no 650 dia de experimento. Não foram registrados efeitos significativos da inclusão de glicerina bruta em substituição do milho na dieta de cordeiros em relação aos diferentes biomarcadores do perfil proteico, mineral e da atividade enzimática. Quando ao perfil energético, identificou-se efeito significativo apenas para a concentração plasmática de glicose (p=0,0003). Na análise de regressão da concentração de glicose plasmática de cordeiros, em função do nível de consumindo de glicerina bruta associada à ureia em substituição ao milho, verificou-se que quanto maior a inclusão de glicerina bruta na dieta, maior a glicemia (r=0,92; p<0001). A quantidade crescente de glicerina bruta na dieta de cordeiros em crescimento em substituição ao milho tem caráter gliconeogênico, além de que não provoca alteração metabólica de parâmetros relacionados ao perfil energético, proteico, mineral e de atividade enzimática.
