Methodologies and proposals for meaningful learning in Biophysics: a brief review

Resumo: Biophysics is an interdisciplinary science that makes up the curriculum of undergraduate courses in the biological and health areas. It is a fundamental discipline for understanding phenomena such as physiology. However, its interdisciplinary nature is responsible, in many cases, for causing difficulties in learning this discipline. Factors such as the lack of correlation between the different disciplines that compose it, superficial learning habits and the absence of more up-to-date theoretical and practical methodologies and materials are usually associated with the difficulty in learning biophysics. Therefore, this article aimed to present teaching-learning methods, in order to promote improvement in teaching biophysics. A narrative review was carried out based on the literature published between 2000 and 2018, available on academic portals such as SciELO, Google Scholar and Periódicos CAPES. The following keywords were used: Biophysics teaching, teaching-learning methods and difficulties in learning biophysics. It was possible to observe in the literature consulted, the use of non-traditional assessments as concept maps and Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) as alternatives to assessment through written test in this discipline. The monitoring of students by a monitor and the realization of practical classes are also of great importance for teaching Biophysics. Thus, the topics covered in the study, allow a better understanding of the difficulties in learning biophysics, proposing solutions for teaching the discipline.

Es una disciplina fundamental para comprender fenómenos como la fisiología. Sin embargo, su carácter interdisciplinario es el responsable, en muchos casos, de provocar dificultades en el aprendizaje de esta disciplina. Factores como la falta de correlación entre las distintas disciplinas que la componen, hábitos de aprendizaje superficiales y la ausencia de metodologías y materiales teóricos y prácticos más actualizados suelen estar asociados a la dificultad en el aprendizaje de la biofísica. Por tanto, este artículo tuvo como objetivo presentar métodos de enseñanza-aprendizaje, con el fin de promover la mejora en la enseñanza de la biofísica. Se realizó una revisión narrativa a partir de la literatura publicada entre 2000 y 2018, disponible en portales académicos como SciELO, Google Scholar y Periódicos CAPES. Se utilizaron las siguientes palabras clave: enseñanza de la biofísica, métodos de enseñanza-aprendizaje y dificultades en el aprendizaje de la biofísica. Se pudo observar en la literatura consultada, el uso de evaluaciones no tradicionales como los mapas conceptuales y las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC) como alternativas a la evaluación mediante prueba escrita en esta disciplina. El seguimiento de los alumnos por un monitor y la realización de clases prácticas, también son de gran importancia para la enseñanza de Biofísica. Así, los temas tratados en el estudio, permiten una mejor comprensión de las dificultades en el aprendizaje de la biofísica, proponiendo soluciones para la enseñanza de la disciplina.A Biofísica é uma ciência interdisciplinar que compõe o currículo de cursos de graduação nas áreas biológicas e da saúde. É uma disciplina fundamental para a compreensão de fenômenos como a fisiologia. Porém, sua natureza interdisciplinar é responsável, em muitos casos, por causar dificuldades na aprendizagem desta disciplina. Fatores como a falta de correlação entre as diferentes disciplinas que a compõem, hábitos de aprendizagem superficiais e a ausência de metodologias e materiais teóricos e práticos mais atualizados estão normalmente associados à dificuldade na aprendizagem da biofísica. Portanto, este artigo teve por objetivo apresentar métodos de ensino-aprendizagem, para assim, promover a melhoria no ensino de biofísica. Foi realizada uma revisão narrativa com base na literatura publicada entre 2000 e 2018, disponível em portais acadêmicos como SciELO, Google Acadêmico e Periódicos CAPES. Foram utilizadas as seguintes palavras-chave: Ensino de biofísica, métodos de ensino-aprendizagem e dificuldades na aprendizagem de biofísica. Foi possível observar na literatura consultada, a utilização de avaliações não-tradicionais como mapas conceituais e Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (TICs) como alternativas à avaliação por meio de prova escrita nesta disciplina. O acompanhamento dos discentes por um monitor e a realização de aulas práticas, são também de grande importância para o ensino de Biofísica.
