The impact of the pandemic on the prevalence of depression from the perspective of fear of the SARS-CoV-2 community on physically active elderly

Resumo: In March 2020, the World Health Organization declared a pandemic due to the new coronavirus. As a strategy to contain the spread of the disease and its spread, the government implemented restrictive measures, highlighting social isolation. However, measures like this can bring harm, so the study aimed to analyze the fear of contracting SARS-CoV-2 and the manifestation of depression, under the influence of the post-social isolation period, in physically active elderly women in the community. Methods: Anamnesis was carried out on the main possible changes in health conditions, then the COVID-19 fear scale and the geriatric depression scale were used. Thirty-four elderly women participated in the study. Results: among the participants in the sample, 12 (36%) were diagnosed with the disease of COVID-19, 10 (29.4%) had symptoms suggestive of a diagnosis of depression and 28 (82.4%) participants indicated that they suffered with little fear. of COVID-19. Conclusion: the elderly in the research had higher rates of depression and low levels of fear of COVID-19 during the collections, consequently, of the pandemic, however, there was no positive correlation between the variables.

Como estrategia para contener la propagación de la enfermedad y su propagación, el gobierno implementó medidas restrictivas, destacando el aislamiento social. Sin embargo, medidas como esta pueden traer perjuicios, por lo que el estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar el miedo a contraer el SARS-CoV-2 y la manifestación de depresión, bajo la influencia del período post-aislamiento social, en ancianas físicamente activas de la comunidad. Métodos: Se realizó anamnesis sobre los principales posibles cambios en las condiciones de salud, luego se utilizó la escala de miedo al COVID-19 y la escala de depresión geriátrica. Treinta y cuatro ancianas participaron del estudio. Resultados: entre los participantes de la muestra, 12 (36%) fueron diagnosticados con la enfermedad de COVID-19, 10 (29,4%) presentaron síntomas sugestivos de diagnóstico de depresión y 28 (82,4%) participantes indicaron padecer con poca miedo al COVID-19. Conclusión: los ancianos de la investigación presentaron mayores índices de depresión y bajos niveles de miedo a la COVID-19 durante las colectas, consecuentemente, de la pandemia, sin embargo, no hubo correlación positiva entre las variables.Em março de 2020 foi decretada, pela Organização Mundial da Saúde, a pandemia pelo novo coronavírus. Como estratégia de contenção do avanço da doença e sua disseminação, o governo implementou medidas restritivas, destacando o isolamento social. Entretanto medidas como essa podem trazer prejuízos, por isso o estudo teve por objetivo analisar o medo de contrair o SARS-CoV-2 e a manifstação de depressão, sob a influência do período pós isolamento social, em idosas fisicamente ativas da comunidade. Métodos: Realizou-se anamnese sobre as principais alterações possíveis nas condições de saúde, logo utilizou-se a escala de medo da COVID-19 e a escala de depressão geriátrica. Participaram do estudo 34 idosas. Resultados: dentre as participantes da amostra 12 (36%) obtiveram diagnóstico para a doença do COVID-19, 10 (29,4%) apresentaram sintomas sugestivos para diagnóstico de depressão e 28 (82,4%) participantes apontaram sofrer com pouco medo da COVID-19.
