Increasing doses of lime associated with nitrogen fertilization in maize

Resumo: The objective was to evaluate increasing doses of limestone associated with nitrogen fertilization on the agronomic characteristics and nutritional value of the maize. The experimental design was randomized blocks (DBC) in a 5x2 factorial scheme, with five levels of dolomitic limestone (0; 2; 4; 6 and 8 tons per hectare) and two doses of nitrogen fertilization (protected urea) in coverage (100 and 150 kg per hectare), with 4 repetitions. Agronomic characteristics (initial start-up and plant development, pest and disease incidence, dry matter yield per hectare, ear height, plant height, grain yield per hectare and percentage of burnt grains) and nutritional value were evaluated of the whole plant (pH of the plant, crude protein, mineral matter, neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber, lignin and in vitro digestibility of the whole plant and grains in percentage of dry matter). There was no significant variation in agronomic characteristics, however, there was a change in nutritional characteristics only for lignin. For the conditions studied, increasing doses of limestone associated with nitrogen fertilization did not promote improvements in agronomic characteristics, only altering the lignin content in the nutritional value of maize. More studies should be carried out on increasing doses of limestone associated with nitrogen fertilization in maize, especially in chemically poor soils.

El diseño experimental fue bloques al azar (DBC) en esquema factorial 5x2, con cinco niveles de caliza dolomítica (0; 2; 4; 6 y 8 toneladas por hectárea) y dos dosis de fertilización nitrogenada (urea protegida) en cobertura (100 y 150 kg por hectárea), con 4 repeticiones. Se evaluaron características agronómicas (arranque inicial y desarrollo de la planta, incidencia de plagas y enfermedades, rendimiento de materia seca por hectárea, altura de mazorca, altura de planta, rendimiento de grano por hectárea y porcentaje de granos quemados) y valor nutricional de la planta entera (pH de la planta, proteína bruta, materia mineral, fibra detergente neutro, fibra detergente ácido, lignina y digestibilidad in vitro de la planta entera y granos en porcentaje de materia seca). No hubo variación significativa en las características agronómicas, sin embargo, hubo un cambio en las características nutricionales solo para la lignina. Para las condiciones estudiadas, dosis crecientes de cal asociadas a la fertilización nitrogenada no promovieron mejoras en las características agronómicas, solo alterando el contenido de lignina en el valor nutritivo del maíz. Se deben realizar más estudios sobre dosis crecientes de cal asociadas a la fertilización nitrogenada en maíz, especialmente en suelos químicamente pobres.Objetivou-se avaliar doses crescentes de calcário associadas à adubação nitrogenada nas características agronômicas e valor nutricional da cultura do milho. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos casualizados (DBC) em esquema fatorial 5x2, sendo cinco níveis de calcário dolomítico (0; 2; 4; 6 e 8 toneladas por hectare) e duas doses de adubação nitrogenada (ureia protegida) em cobertura (100 e 150 kg por hectare), com 4 repetições. Avaliou-se as características agronômicas (arranque inicial e desenvolvimento das plantas, incidência de pragas e doenças, produtividade de matéria seca por hectare, altura de espigas, altura de plantas, produtividade de grãos por hectare e porcentagem de grãos ardidos) e o valor nutricional da planta inteira (pH da planta, proteína bruta, matéria mineral, fibra em detergente neutro, fibra em detergente ácido, lignina e digestibilidade in vitro da planta inteira e dos grãos em porcentagem da matéria seca). Não houve variação significativa nas características agronômicas, no entanto, houve alteração nas características nutricionais somente para lignina. Para as condições estudadas, doses crescentes de calcário associadas à adubação nitrogenada não promoveram melhorias nas características agronômicas, apenas alterou o teor de lignina no valor nutricional do milho.
