Seminal mini-cutting in Sarcomphalus joazeiro (Mart.) Hauenshild

Resumo: | Sarcomphalus joazeiro (Mart.) Hauenshild is a plant native to the Caatinga biome that stands out for its ecological importance, use as an ornamental plant, manufacture of commercial products, animal and human consumption due to its nutritional and medicinal properties. The propagation of S. joazeiro by seeds, has as limitations the difficulty of obtaining dispersion propagules in periods of long drought, rapid decline in germination power, the need to overcome seed dormancy caused by the hard and resistant endocarp, the main method being used is concentrated sulfuric acid, increasing the cost and risks of its manipulation and contamination of the environment. An alternative for the propagation of this plant is the use of the mini-cutting technique from juvenile material of seminal origin, due to the independence of seeds for the production of seedlings. In view of the above, this research aimed to form and evaluate a mini-clonal hedge of seminal origin of the species S. joazeiro in its first year of establishment. Initially, an experimental S. joazeiro mini-clonal hedge was established, and then the technical evaluation was established. The mini-stumps survival rate of the S. joazeiro mini-clonal hedge was 100% and the average productivity in its first year of evaluation was good (7.9 mini-cuttings / mini-stumps), indicating that this clonal propagation technique has the potential to be adopted. |

Hauenshild es una planta originaria del bioma Caatinga que se destaca por su importancia ecológica y al ser utilizada como planta ornamental, para fabricación de productos comerciales, de consumo animal y humano por sus propiedades nutricionales y medicinales. Las limitaciones de la propagación de S. joazeiro por semillas son la dificultad para obtener propágulos de dispersión en períodos de sequía prolongada, la rápida disminución del poder germinativo y la necesidad de superar la latencia de las semillas causada por el endocarpio duro y resistente; siendo que el principal método utilizado para este fin es el ácido sulfúrico concentrado, aumentando el costo y los riesgos de su manipulación y contaminación del medio ambiente. Una alternativa para la propagación de esta planta es el uso de la técnica de mini estacas a partir de material juvenil de origen seminal, debido a la independencia de las semillas para la producción de plántulas. En ese contexto, esta investigación tuvo como objetivo formar y evaluar un minijardín clonal de origen seminal de la especie S. joazeiro en su primer año de establecimiento. Inicialmente, se estableció el minijardín clonal experimental y luego se estableció la evaluación técnica de este. La supervivencia de las minicepas de S. joazeiro del minijardín clonal fue del 100% y la productividad promedio en su primer año de evaluación fue buena (7,9 mini estacas / minicepa), lo que indica que esta técnica de propagación clonal tiene el potencial de ser adoptado.Sarcomphalus joazeiro (Mart.) Hauenshild é uma planta nativa do bioma Caatinga que destaca-se pela sua importância ecológica, utilizada como planta ornamental, fabricação de produtos comerciais, consumo animal e humano devido suas propriedades nutricionais e medicinais. A propagação de S. joazeiro por sementes tem como limitações a dificuldade de obtenção dos propágulos de dispersão em períodos de longa estiagem, declínio rápido do poder germinativo e necessidade de superação da dormência das sementes provocada pelo endocarpo duro e resistente, sendo que o principal método utilizado é o ácido sulfúrico concentrado, aumentando o custo e, riscos de sua manipulação e contaminação do meio ambiente. Uma alternativa para a propagação dessa planta é o uso da técnica de miniestaquia a partir de material juvenil de origem seminal, devido à independência de sementes para a produção de mudas. Diante do exposto, esta pesquisa teve como objetivo a formação e avaliação de um minijardim clonal de origem seminal da espécie S. joazeiro em seu primeiro ano de estabelecimento. Inicialmente foi estabelecido um minijardim clonal experimental S. joazeiro e, em seguida, a avaliação técnica desse minijardim.
