Iron deficiency anemia in childhood associated with intestinal parasites: hookworm and ascariasis

Resumo: Separadas; Por; Pon Iron deficiency is the most common nutritional deficiency in the world, affecting about 2 billion people, therefore it can be defined as insufficient iron stores for the production of red blood cells, which will eventually lead to anemia. Currently, about 45% to 50% of Brazilian children suffer from the disease. When considering iron deficiency with or without anemia, these numbers can reach over 70%. Iron deficiency anemia is defined as a decrease in hemoglobin concentration due to a decrease in the body's iron stores. The aim of this study is to analyze iron deficiency anemia and hookworm enteroparasitosis and Áscaris Lumbricoides in childhood. This is an integrative review prepared from a bibliographic survey, using books and scientific articles. Databases: SCIELO, LILACS, MEDLINE and Virtual Health Library (VHL). The literature investigation will be carried out using the following descriptors: “Ascaris lumbricoide”, “hookworm”, “iron deficiency anemia. Damage caused by intestinal parasites to their carriers includes intestinal obstruction and malnutrition (l Ascaris lumbricoides), deficiency anemia of iron (hookworms) and other problems, and their clinical manifestations are generally proportional to the load of parasites transported by the individual. The prevalence of anemia and intestinal parasites found is similar to that found in developing countries, where there are almost always social inequalities and poor basic sanitation.

Actualmente, entre el 45% y el 50% de los niños brasileños padecen la enfermedad. Al considerar la deficiencia de hierro con o sin anemia, estas cifras pueden llegar a más del 70%. La anemia por deficiencia de hierro se define como una disminución en la concentración de hemoglobina debido a una disminución en las reservas de hierro del cuerpo. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la anemia ferropénica y la anquilostomiasis y la enteroparasitosis por Áscaris lumbricoides en la infancia. Es una revisión integradora elaborada a partir de un relevamiento bibliográfico, utilizando libros y artículos científicos. Bases de datos: SCIELO, LILACS, MEDLINE y Biblioteca Virtual en Salud (BVS). La literatura se investigará utilizando los siguientes descriptores: "Ascaris lumbricoide", "anquilostomiasis", "anemia ferropénica. El daño causado por los parásitos intestinales a sus portadores incluye obstrucción intestinal y desnutrición (l Ascaris lumbricoides), anemia ferropénica (anquilostomas) y otros problemas, y sus manifestaciones clínicas son generalmente proporcionales a la carga de parásitos que porta el individuo. La prevalencia de anemia y parásitos intestinales encontrados es similar a la encontrada en países en vías de desarrollo, donde casi siempre existen desigualdades sociales y saneamiento básico deficiente.A deficiência de ferro é a carência nutricional mais comum no mundo, afetando cerca de 2 bilhões de pessoas, portanto pode ser definida como reservas insuficientes de ferro para a produção de hemácias, o que acabará por levar à anemia. Atualmente, cerca de 45% a 50% das crianças brasileiras sofrem com a doença. Quando consideramos a deficiência de ferro com ou sem anemia, esses números podem chegar a mais de 70%. A anemia ferropriva é definida como diminuição da concentração de hemoglobina devido à diminuição das reservas de ferro do organismo. O objetivo do trabalho é realizar uma análise sobre a anemia ferropriva e as enteroparasitoses ancilostomose e Áscaris Lumbricoides na infância. Trata-se de revisão integrativa elaborado a partir de levantamento bibliográfico, utilizando livros e artigos científicos. A bases de dados: SCIELO, LILACS, MEDLINE e Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde (BVS). A investigação da literatura será realizada por meio dos seguintes descritores: “Ascaris lumbricoide”, “ancilostomíase”, "anemia ferropriva. Os danos causados por parasitas intestinais aos seus portadores incluem obstrução intestinal e desnutrição (l Ascaris lumbricoides), anemia por deficiência de ferro (ancilostomídeos) e outros problemas, e suas manifestações clínicas são geralmente proporcionais à carga de parasitas transportados pelo indivíduo.
