Resumo: Know the concept of old age formed by elderly people who attend social centers. Qualitative study, with 12 elderly people who attend social centers. The collection of information took place from August to November 2019 through a semi-structured interview script. The data were analyzed according to Bardin. After analysis, the following thematic categories emerged: Gratitude to God; Loneliness; Ache; Difficulties in carrying out work; Changes in appearance; Memory deficit and the need for social support networks. Elderly people who attend social centers in general are grateful for the time they have lived and recognize it as a gift from God, however, negative conceptions about this conception predominated.

Estudio cualitativo, con 12 personas mayores que asisten a centros sociales. La recolección de información se llevó a cabo de agosto a noviembre de 2019 a través de un guión de entrevista semiestructurado. Los datos se analizaron según Bardin. Después del análisis, surgieron las siguientes categorías temáticas: Gratitud a Dios; Soledad; Dolor; Dificultades para realizar el trabajo; Cambios de apariencia; Déficit de memoria y necesidad de redes de apoyo social. Las personas mayores que asisten a los centros sociales en general están agradecidas por el tiempo que han vivido y lo reconocen como un regalo de Dios, sin embargo, predominaron las concepciones negativas sobre esta concepción.Conhecer a concepção de velhice formada por pessoas idosas que frequentam centros de convivência. Estudo qualitativo, com 12 pessoas idosas que frequentam centros de convivência. A coleta das informações ocorreu nos meses de agosto a novembro de 2019 através de um roteiro de entrevista semiestruturado. Os dados foram analisados de acordo Bardin. Após analise emergiram as seguintes categorias temáticas: Gratidão a Deus; Solidão; Dor; Dificuldades para realizar trabalhos laborais; Mudanças na aparência; Déficit de Memória e necessidade de redes de suporte social.
