Pathologies in wooden structure

In Brazil, as a result of the large amount of historic wooden structures, be they roofs of sheds, churches, wooden bridges, gymnasiums among others, there are many structures over 50 years old still in use. The useful life together with the modification of use and the unstable control potentiated the appearance of pathological manifestations and the emergence of some degradations can affect both new structures and structures with a certain age of use. In this context, it is necessary to function of the useful life of these structures and to evaluate the main pathological manifestations in addition to indicating the possible interventions, maintenance and replacements in order to guarantee the safety of these structures in the face of possible conditions of use today. However, the general objective of this work is to carry out studies based on bibliographic and field research (UFT), identifying the causes and effects of the main pathological manifestations in wooden structural elements presented by the proposed inspection methodology.
