Resumo: | Hydrocyclones are equipment used in oil-water separation processes. They are considered to be efficient, compact, safe, of simple construction and maintenance, and low cost, when compared to other equipment used in similar application. Therefore, this work aims to numerically analyze the separation process of an oil-water mixture in hydrocyclone, regarding to the fluid dynamic aspect. For the numerical solution of the governing equations, the Ansys CFX software was used. Results of the pressure and volumetric fraction fields of the oil phase, and the separation performance of the equipment are presented and analyzed. From the results obtained, it was found that the highest pressures occur near the walls and the entrance of the equipment, that the largest volumetric fractions of the oil occur in the central region and close to the outlet of the hydrocyclone, and that this equipment presented separation efficiency greater than 99.8%. |

Se consideran eficientes, compactos, seguros, de construcción y mantenimiento sencillos y de bajo costo, en comparación con otros equipos de aplicación similar. Así, este trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar numéricamente el proceso de separación de la mezcla petróleo-agua en un hidrociclón, en cuanto a su aspecto fluidodinámico. Para la solución numérica de las ecuaciones gobernantes se utilizó el software Ansys CFX. Se presentan y analizan los resultados de la presión y fracción volumétrica de la fase oleosa y el rendimiento de separación del equipo. A partir de los resultados obtenidos, se encontró que las mayores presiones ocurren cerca de las paredes y la entrada de los equipos, que las mayores fracciones volumétricas del aceite ocurren en la región central y cerca de la salida del hidrociclón, y que este equipo presenta una eficiencia de separación mayor a 99,8%.Hidrociclones são equipamentos usados em processos de separação óleo-água. São considerados eficientes, compactos, seguros, de simples construção e manutenção, e baixo custo, quando comparados a outros equipamentos de semelhante aplicação. Diante disso, este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar numericamente o processo de separação da mistura óleo-água em um hidrociclone, quanto ao seu aspecto fluidodinâmico. Para a solução numérica das equações governantes utilizou-se o software Ansys CFX. Resultados dos campos de pressão e fração volumétrica da fase óleo, e do desempenho de separação do equipamento são apresentados e analisados.
