Resumo: | This study aims to describe the scientific evidence regarding nursing care in relation to the family functionality of a patient with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review, carried out between February and March 2021, using publications indexed in the electronic database: Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and Nursing Database (BDENF), In total, 9 articles were found that met the inclusion criteria of this work. The results showed that the level of dependence of the patient with ALS is a contributing factor to cause physical and mental stress on the caregiver, with the overload being spontaneously proportional to the degree of dependence of the patient. Thus, it can be concluded that caregivers of patients with ALS are overloaded in relation to care and need support and guidance to cope with the demands related to the daily life of patients with ALS. And one of the alternatives is the constitution of help groups composed of nursing professionals and caregivers that work as a place for exchanging knowledge and emotional help. |

Metodología: Se trata de una revisión integrativa de la literatura, realizada entre febrero y marzo de 2021, utilizando publicaciones indexadas en la base de datos electrónica: Literatura Latinoamericana y del Caribe en Ciencias de la Salud (LILACS), Biblioteca Científica Electrónica en Línea (SciELO) y Base de Datos de Enfermería (BDENF) , En total se encontraron 9 artículos que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión de este trabajo. Los resultados mostraron que el nivel de dependencia del paciente con ELA es un factor que contribuye a generar estrés físico y psíquico en el cuidador, siendo la sobrecarga espontáneamente proporcional al grado de dependencia del paciente. Así, se puede concluir que los cuidadores de pacientes con ELA exponen una sobrecarga en relación al cuidado y necesitan apoyo y orientación para afrontar las demandas relacionadas con el cotidiano de los pacientes con ELA. Y una de las alternativas es la constitución de grupos de ayuda integrados por profesionales de enfermería y cuidadores que funcionen como un lugar de intercambio de conocimientos y ayuda emocional.Esse estudo objetiva-se descrever as evidências científicas a respeito da assistência de enfermagem frente à funcionalidade familiar de paciente portador de esclerose lateral amiotrófica. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, realizada entre fevereiro e março de 2021, fazendo uso de publicações indexadas na base de dados eletrônicas: Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS), Scientific Eletronic Library Online (SciELO) e Base de Dados em Enfermagem (BDENF), No total foram encontrados 9 artigos de atenderam aos critérios de inclusão deste trabalho. Os resultados mostraram que o nível de dependência do paciente portador de ELA é um fator colaborador para causar estresse físico e mental no cuidador, sendo a sobrecarga espontaneamente proporcional ao grau de dependência do paciente. Assim, pode-se concluir que os cuidadores de pacientes portadores de ELA expõem sobrecarga em relação ao cuidado e necessitam de suporte e orientação para suportar com as demandas relacionadas ao dia a dia do paciente portador de ELA.
