Resumo: Introduction: The operating microscope allows for greater magnification, allowing an interpretation of the root canal system and endodontic treatment with greater chances of success, since this specialty requires that the professional work with tactile sensitivity. Objective: Thus, this study aimed to describe the advantages of using the operating microscope in Endodontics. Methodology: it is a narrative review of the literature that uses monographs, dissertations, theses and scientific articles in the thematic area, published in the last 25 years (1995-2020), in Portuguese, English and Spanish, indexed in the BBO databases , SciElo, LILACS, MEDLINE, PubMed and Google Scholar. Results: The studies shown in the microscope favor the illumination of the operational field, allowing to see, with magnification, as internal and deep structures of the root canal system. This expansion was verified in conventional endodontics, making it safer and minimally invasive, favoring the diagnosis of root fractures, in addition to coronary openings free of obstructions, location of root canals, retreatment, perforations and periradicular microsurgery. In addition, promote communication between professionals and between professionals and patients, as well as promoting didactic, pedagogical and marketing purposes. Conclusion: In this way, the operating microscope provides Endodontics with the realization of applications with success rates.

Objetivo: por lo tanto, este estudio tuvo como objetivo describir las ventajas de utilizar el microscopio operativo en endodoncia. Metodología: es una revisión narrativa de la literatura que utiliza monografías, disertaciones, tesis y artículos científicos en el área temática, publicados en los últimos 25 años (1995-2020), en portugués, inglés y español, indexados en las bases de datos BBO, SciElo, LILACS, MEDLINE, PubMed y Google Scholar. Resultados: Los estudios que se muestran en el microscopio favorecen la iluminación del campo operativo, permitiendo ver, con aumento, las estructuras internas y profundas del sistema del conducto radicular. Esta expansión se verificó en la endodoncia convencional, haciéndola más segura y mínimamente invasiva, favoreciendo el diagnóstico de fracturas de raíz, además de aberturas coronarias libres de obstrucciones, ubicación de canales de raíz, retratamiento, perforaciones y microcirugía perirradicular. Además, promover la comunicación entre profesionales y entre profesionales y pacientes, así como promover fines didácticos, pedagógicos y de marketing. Conclusión: De esta manera, el microscopio operativo proporciona a Endodontics la realización de aplicaciones con tasas de éxito.Introdução: O microscópio operatório permite uma maior magnificação, favorecendo a interpretação do sistema de canais radiculares e um tratamento endodôntico com maiores chances de sucesso, uma vez que, essa especialidade requer que o profissional trabalhe com a sensibilidade táctil. Objetivo: Dessa forma, este trabalho teve como objetivo descrever sobre as vantagens da utilização do microscópio operatório na Endodontia. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão narrativa da literatura utilizando monografias, dissertações, teses e artigos científicos na área temática, publicados nos últimos 25 anos (1995–2020), nos idiomas português, inglês e espanhol, indexados nas bases de dados BBO, SciElo, LILACS, MEDLINE, PubMed e Google Scholar. Resultados: Os estudos mostraram que o microscópio favorece a iluminação do campo operatório, permitindo ver, com ampliação, as estruturas internas e profundos do sistema dos canais radiculares. Essa ampliação foi verificada na Endodontia convencional, tornando-a mais segura e minimamente invasiva, favorecendo o diagnóstico de fraturas radiculares, além de aberturas coronárias livres de obstruções, localização dos canais radiculares, retratamento, perfurações e em microcirurgia perirradiculares. Além disso, favorece a comunicação entre profissionais e, entre profissionais e pacientes, assim como promovem finalidades didáticas, pedagógicas e de marketing.
