Resumo: Introduction: Hypertrophy of the temporal muscle is rare, and can be caused by a variety of factors, such as congenital causes or even acquired through hyperactivity of the masticatory muscles. Causing the muscle in question to develop excess muscle tissue by altering the facial contour generating aesthetic complaints for many patients. Objective: This study aimed to address the treatment of temporal muscle hypertrophy with botulinum toxin. The research is justified by the importance of knowing this treatment in view of the rarity of the case. Methodology: The methodology was integrative research based on scientific articles and a clinical case report. Therefore, the use of botulinum toxin in the field of Dentistry has become effective in the treatment of rehabilitation in patients with temporal muscle hypertrophy, providing aesthetic and functional improvement for the patient and may involve multidisciplinary therapy covering Orthodontics and Psychology.

Provocando que el músculo en cuestión desarrolle un exceso de tejido muscular alterando el contorno facial generando molestias estéticas para muchos pacientes. Objetivo: Este estudio tuvo como objetivo abordar el tratamiento de la hipertrofia del músculo temporal con toxina botulínica. La investigación se justifica por la importancia de conocer este tratamiento ante la rareza del caso. Metodología: La metodología fue una investigación integradora basada en artículos científicos y reporte de un caso clínico. Por tanto, el uso de la toxina botulínica en el campo de la Odontología se ha vuelto eficaz en el tratamiento de la rehabilitación en pacientes con hipertrofia del músculo temporal, aportando una mejora estética y funcional al paciente y puede implicar una terapia multidisciplinar que abarque la Ortodoncia y la Psicología.Introdução: A hipertrofia do músculo temporal é rara, e pode ser ocasionada por uma variação de fatores, como causas congênitas ou até mesmo adquiridas através de uma hiperatividade dos músculos mastigatórios. Fazendo com que o músculo em questão desenvolva em excesso tecido muscular alterando o contorno facial gerando queixa estética para muitos pacientes. Objetivo: Esse trabalhoeve como objetivo abordar o tratamento de hipertrofia muscular do temporal com toxina botulínica. A pesquisa se justifica pela importância de conhecer esse tratamento diante da raridade do caso. Metodologia: A metodologia foi pesquisa integrativa com base em artigos científicos e um relato de caso clínico.
