First psychiatric hospitalization: a perspective of the care based on the patient's experience

Resumo: This work analyzes the patient’s first hospitalization in a specialized psychiatric hospital, their arrival, stay, and the care received during the hospitalization. Qualitative, descriptive and analytical research, with consultation of statistic, medical records and semi-structured interviews of these patients in their first hospitalization. Patients report an idle routine during hospitalization, passiveness, lack of knowledge regarding the received treatment, short duration of care received by professionals and low autonomy over the prescribed medication. The patients do not recognize workshops or similar activity as treatment. They highlight the nursing station as a place where they feel safe, and point out the use of the clinical beds as a favorable and reassuring place for the first hospitalization. We recommended that the first hospitalization is performed by a multidisciplinary team which acts in accordance with territorial services, in direct partnership with the Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS) for joint action in the face of new crises.

Investigación cualitativa, descriptiva y analítica, con búsqueda en estatistica, registros médicos y entrevistas semiestructuradas de estos pacientes en su primera hospitalización. Los pacientes informan una rutina inactiva durante la hospitalización, pasividad, falta de conocimiento sobre el tratamiento recibido, corta duración de la atención recibida por los profesionales y baja autonomía sobre la medicación prescrita. Los pacientes no reconocen talleres o actividades similares como tratamiento. Destacan la estación de enfermería como un lugar donde se sienten seguros y señalan el uso de la cama clínica como un lugar favorable y tranquilizador para la primera hospitalización. Se recomienda que la primera hospitalización sea realizada por un equipo multidisciplinario y que actúe de acuerdo con los servicios territoriales, en asociación directa con el Centro de Atención Psicosocial (CAPS) para la acción conjunta ante nuevas crisis.Objetivo: O artigo tem como objetivo analisar a primeira internação do paciente em hospital psiquiátrico e o cuidado recebido durante a internação. Método: Pesquisa qualitativa, descritiva e analítica, com busca em estatística, prontuários e entrevistas semiestruturadas desses pacientes em sua primeira internação. Resultados e discussão: Os pacientes relatam um cotidiano ocioso na internação, passividade, desconhecimento frente ao tratamento recebido, a curta duração dos atendimentos recebidos por profissionais e baixa autonomia sobre a medicação prescrita. Os pacientes não reconhecem as oficinas nem atividade similares como tratamento. Destacam o posto de enfermagem como um local onde sentem-se seguros, e apontam o uso do leito clínico como local favorável e tranquilizador para a primeira internação.
