Motorcycle accident: characterization of pre-hospitalcare in the interior of São Paulo

Resumo: Objective: To characterize the assistance provided by the Mobile Emergency Service and Fire Department to victims of motorcycle accidents in the interior of São Paulo. Method: This is a cross-sectional, documentary, retrospective, quantitative research. Data were collected through the attendance sheets for the years 2016 and 2017, and analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. This study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee. Results: Most of the victims were male (61.3%), aged between 21 and 30 years old (38.8%), drivers (92.9%). Lower limbs (43.5%) and upper limbs (24.0%) were the most affected body regions. Most of the consultations were performed by the Basic Support Unit of the Mobile Emergency Care Service (56.6%), and were referred to the Emergency Care Unit (57.9%). Conclusion: It is considered essential to develop specific interventions such as adequate infrastructure, combined with accident prevention programs, to reverse this situation.

Método: Se trata de una investigación transversal, documental, retrospectiva y cuantitativa. Los datos fueron recolectados a través de las hojas de asistencia de los años 2016 y 2017 y analizados mediante análisis estadístico descriptivo Este estudio fue aprobado por el Comité de Ética en Investigación. Resultados: La mayoría de las víctimas fueron hombres (61,3%), con edades comprendidas entre 21 y 30 años (38,8%), conductores (92,9%). Los miembros inferiores (43,5%) y los miembros superiores (24,0%) fueron las regiones corporales más afectadas. La mayoría de las consultas fueron realizadas por la Unidad de Apoyo Básico del Servicio Móvil de Urgencias (56,6%) y fueron derivadas a la Unidad de Urgencias (57,9%). Conclusión: Se considera fundamental desarrollar intervenciones específicas como una infraestructura adecuada, combinada con programas de prevención de accidentes, para revertir esta situación.Objetivo: Caracterizar os atendimentos realizados pelo Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência e Corpo de Bombeiros às vítimas de acidentes motociclísticosocorridos no interior paulista. Método: Trata-se de uma pesquisa transversal, documental, retrospectiva, de natureza quantitativa. Os dados foram coletados através das fichas de atendimento dos anos 2016 e 2017, e analisados por meio de análise estatística descritiva.Este estudo foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa. Resultados: A maioria das vítimas eram do sexo masculino (61,3%), na faixa etária entre 21e30 anos (38,8%), condutores (92,9%). Membros inferiores (43,5%) e superiores (24,0%) foram as regiões corpóreas mais atingidas. A maioria dos atendimentos foi realizada pela Unidade de Suporte Básico do Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência (56,6%), e encaminhados à Unidade de Pronto Atendimento(57,9%).
