Some applications of differential and integral calculus

Resumo: Differential and Integral Calculus is the part of Mathematics that takes care of, among other topics, the study of the rates of variation of quantities. Mathematics is present in everyday life more than one can imagine and, through a brief study, it can be seen that it contributes to our daily activities, whether in basic operations, when calculating the change for money when we sell something, or in situations where more complex calculations are required. The Discipline of Differential and Integral Calculus must dialogue with the professions, and one of the causes of the students' lack of interest is associated with the absence of an applied view of the content in the professional career activity. In view of this, this work proposes to present and discuss five examples of applications of Differential and Integral Calculus in Science and Engineering. The methodology used is exploratory, based on a bibliographic survey. It is expected, therefore, to contribute to the teaching of themes related to Differential and Integral Calculus, pointing out applications of its use in different areas of knowledge.

La matemática está presente en la vida cotidiana más de lo que uno pueda imaginar y, a través de un breve estudio, se puede apreciar que contribuye a nuestras actividades diarias, ya sea en operaciones básicas, a la hora de calcular el cambio por dinero cuando vendemos algo, o en situaciones en las que se requieren cálculos más complejos. La Disciplina del Cálculo Diferencial e Integral debe dialogar con las profesiones, y una de las causas del desinterés de los estudiantes está asociada a la ausencia de una visión aplicada de los contenidos en la actividad de la carrera profesional. Ante esto, este trabajo se propone presentar y discutir cinco ejemplos de aplicaciones del Cálculo Diferencial e Integral en Ciencia e Ingeniería. La metodología utilizada es exploratoria, basada en un relevamiento bibliográfico. Se espera, por tanto, contribuir a la enseñanza de temas relacionados con el Cálculo Diferencial e Integral, señalando aplicaciones de su uso en diferentes áreas del conocimiento.O Cálculo Diferencial e Integral é a parte da Matemática que cuida, entre outros temas, do estudo das taxas de variação de grandezas. A Matemática está presente no dia a dia mais do que se pode imaginar e, por meio de um breve estudo, nota-se que ela contribui nas nossas atividades do cotidiano, seja em operações básicas, ao calcular o troco do dinheiro quando vendemos algo, ou em situações nas quais são exigidos cálculos mais complexos. A disciplina de Cálculo Diferencial e Integral, deve dialogar com as profissões, sendo que uma das causas do desinteresse dos alunos está associada à ausência de uma visão aplicada do conteúdo na atividade da carreira profissional. À vista disso, este trabalho propõe apresentar e discutir cinco exemplos de aplicações do Cálculo Diferencial e Integral nas Ciências e Engenharias. A metodologia utilizada é do tipo exploratória, baseada em levantamento bibliográfico.
