Resumo: Facial fractures have a variable incidence according to the individual's age and gender, geographical location and cultural aspects, socioeconomic position, influence of climate and weather, use of alcohol and drugs, variation of traffic laws, domestic violence and etiological factors. With the objective of verifying the epidemiology of facial trauma in the region of Araçatuba - SP, a retrospective survey of twenty years was carried out based on the medical records of patients treated at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service at Unesp Araçatuba, verifying the incidence, etiological factors, age group and gender of patients who suffered multiple facial fractures. The data obtained were inserted in EpiInfo, for counting and statistics (Spearman's correlation test). 2770 records were evaluated, of which 357 patients had more than one fracture on the face. It was observed that there was a higher prevalence in male patients (p <0.05). The etiological factor highlighted was the motorcycle accident followed by automobile accidents and physical aggression. Multiple fractures in the face are very frequent events in hospital emergencies, with men being more frequently affected, and high impact accidents are those that most determine the severity and association of facial fractures.

Multiple fractures in the face are very frequent events in hospital emergencies, with men being more frequently affected, and high impact accidents are those that most determine the severity and association of facial fractures. Research, Society and Development2020-07-06info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/534710.33448/rsd-v9i8.5347Research, Society and Development; Vol. 9 No. 8; e327985347Research, Society and Development; Vol. 9 Núm. 8; e327985347Research, Society and Development; v. 9 n. 8; e3279853472525-3409reponame:Research, Society and Developmentinstname:Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)instacron:UNIFEIporhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/5347/4860Copyright (c) 2020 Izabela Soares Minari, Cassio Messias Beija Flor Figueiredo, Júlio César Silva de Oliveira, Daniela Atili Brandini, Ana Paula Farnezi Bassiinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessMinari, Izabela SoaresFigueiredo, Cassio Messias Beija FlorOliveira, Júlio César Silva deBrandini, Daniela AtiliBassi, Ana Paula Farnezi2020-08-20T18:00:17Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/5347Revistahttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/indexPUBhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/oairsd.articles@gmail.com2525-34092525-3409opendoar:2024-01-17T09:28:53.325577Research, Society and Development - Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)false
