Resumo: | The objective was to evaluate the phytomass and productivity of the watermelon according to the number of fruits per plant and the planting spacing. The experimental design used was in randomized blocks with four replications and the treatments were allocated in subdivided plots of type 2 x 4. The plot consisted of the number of fruits per plant (1 and 2 fruits) and in the subplot by the planting spacing (3, 0 x 0.4 m), (3.0 x 0.8 m), (3.0 x 1.2 m) and (3.0 x 1.6 m). The cultivation of the watermelon in the denser spacing of 3.0 x 0.4 m associated with the conduction of plants with two fruits stood out significantly in the accumulation of total dry mass in the plant. The denser spacing associated with the plant's conduction with only one fruit raised the average fruit mass of the watermelon. The conduction of the plant with two fruits and in the spacing of 3.0 x 0.4 m registered the highest productivity of the culture. |

El diseño experimental utilizado fue en bloques aleatorizados con cuatro repeticiones y los tratamientos se asignaron en parcelas subdivididas de tipo 2 x 4. La parcela consistió en el número de frutas por planta (1 y 2 frutas) y en la subparcela por el espacio de siembra (3, 0 x 0,4 m), (3,0 x 0,8 m), (3,0 x 1,2 m) y (3,0 x 1,6 m). El cultivo de la sandía en el espacio más denso de 3.0 x 0.4 m asociado con la conducción de plantas con dos frutos se destacó significativamente en la acumulación de masa seca total en la planta. El espacio más denso asociado con la conducción de la planta con una sola fruta elevó la masa promedio de la sandía. La conducción de la planta con dos frutos y en el espaciamiento de 3.0 x 0.4 m registró la mayor productividad del cultivo.Objetivou-se avaliar a fitomassa e produtividade da melancieira em função do número de frutos por planta e do espaçamento de plantio. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos casualizados com quatro repetições e os tratamentos foram alocados em parcelas subdivididas do tipo 2 x 4. A parcela constou do número de frutos por planta (1 e 2 frutos) e na subparcela pelo espaçamento de plantio (3,0 x 0,4 m), (3,0 x 0,8 m), (3,0 x 1,2 m) e (3,0 x 1,6 m). O cultivo da melancieira no espaçamento mais adensado de 3,0 x 0,4 m associado à condução das plantas com dois frutos se destacaram de forma significativa no acúmulo de massa seca total na planta. O espaçamento mais adensado associado a condução da planta com apenas um fruto elevou a massa média do fruto da melancieira.
