Resumo: | In all countries, between 1 and 3% of the adult population suffers from atopic dermatitis, and this percentage is growing. Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic allergic disease characterized by itching and redness of the skin. The pathology usually has periods of remission and exacerbation, so the signs of dermatitis can disappear, and after a while they can reappear. Thus, the present article has the general objective: to analyze the correlation of stress with the (re)occurrence of atopic dermatitis in adult patients. This is a bibliographical research developed in online databases PubMed, Scielo and VHL in the form of articles, books, published between 2017 and 2022 and data analysis by the deductive method with a qualitative approach. The survey results indicate that most people with atopic dermatitis report that their symptoms worsen when they are stressed, anxious or worried. Where it is realized that chronic stress, especially in childhood, can divert the immune system, which is always looking for balance. It is concluded that the triggers that cause exacerbations of atopic dermatitis, in addition to chemical agents, may be the climate, infections, and emotional factors that include stress and changes in emotional state. The stress factor is one of the main factors in the exacerbation of the disease. |

The stress factor is one of the main factors in the exacerbation of the disease.
