Production of seedlings of Cojoba arborea var. angustifolia (Rusby) Barneby & J.W.Grimes using alternative substrates

Resumo: The use of alternative substrates, originating from organic residues, has been presented as an ecologically sustainable destination of solid residues, and its use in the production of seedlings has been the target of several researches in recent years, which aim to maximize the quality and field survival of individuals produced using these materials. Therefore, this work analyzed the seedling quality of Cojoba arborea var. angustifolia (Rusby) Barneby & J.W.Grimes in different substrates compositions. Eight treatments were adopted, with 15 repetitions each, and the following morphological parameters were analyzed: height (Alt), root length (CR), diameter at the height of the neck (DAC), dry mass of the aerial part (MSPA), dry mass of the root (MSR), total dry mass (MST), as well as the relationships: height by diameter the height of the neck (Alt/DAC), height by root length (Alt / CR), dry mass of the aerial part by dry mass of the root (MSPA/MSR), the Dickson Quality Index (IQD) and the number of nodules (QN). It was found that the treatments that contained chestnut shell in their composition, T2 and T4, showed higher biomass production. It was also noted that the use of vegetable ash, in addition to inhibiting nodulation, caused the death of almost 100% of the individuals in the treatment 8. It is also noteworthy that the commercial substrate (T1), only performed well in relation to the number of nodules. It is inferred that alternative substrates based on agroforestry residues, when used in correct proportions, provide high quality seedlings.

Por tanto, este trabajo analizó la calidad de plántulas de Cojoba arborea var. angustifolia (Rusby) Barneby & JW Grimes en diferentes composiciones de sustratos. Se adoptaron ocho tratamientos, con 15 repeticiones cada uno, y se analizaron los siguientes parámetros morfológicos: altura (Alt), largo de raíz (CR), diámetro a la altura del cuello (DAC), masa seca de la parte aérea (MSPA), masa seca de la raíz (MSR), masa seca total (MST), así como las relaciones: altura por diámetro la altura del cuello (Alt / DAC), altura por longitud de raíz (Alt / CR), masa seca de la parte aérea por masa seca de la raíz (MSPA / MSR), el Índice de Calidad de Dickson (IQD) y el número de nódulos (QN). Se encontró que los tratamientos que contenían cáscara de castaño en su composición, T2 y T4, presentaron mayor producción de biomasa. También se observó que el uso de ceniza vegetal, además de inhibir la nodulación, provocó la muerte de casi el 100% de los individuos en el tratamiento 8. También es de destacar que el sustrato comercial (T1), solo se desempeñó bien en relación al número de nódulos. Se infiere que sustratos alternativos a base de residuos agroforestales, cuando se utilizan en las proporciones correctas, proporcionan plántulas de alta calidad.A utilização de substratos alternativos, provenientes de resíduos orgânicos, tem se apresentado como uma destinação ecologicamente sustentável de resíduos sólidos, e sua utilização na produção de mudas tem sido alvo diversas pesquisas nos últimos anos, que visam maximizar a qualidade e sobrevivência em campo de indivíduos produzidos por meio destes materiais. Portanto, este trabalho analisou a qualidade de mudas de Cojoba arborea var. angustifolia (Rusby) Barneby & J.W. Grimes em diferentes composições de substratos. Adotou-se 8 tratamentos, com 15 repetições cada, sendo analisados os seguintes parâmetros morfológicos: altura (Alt), Comprimento da raiz (CR), diâmetro a altura do colo (DAC), massa seca da parte aérea (MSPA), massa seca da raiz (MSR), massa seca total (MST), bem como as relações: altura pelo diâmetro a altura do colo (Alt/DAC), altura pelo comprimento da raiz (Alt/CR), massa seca da parte aérea pela massa seca da raiz (MSPA/MSR), o Índice de Qualidade de Dickson (IQD) e a quantidade de nódulos (QN). Verificou-se que os tratamentos que continham casca de castanha em sua composição, T2 e T4, apresentaram maior produção de biomassa. Também notou-se que a utilização de cinza vegetal, além de inibir a nodulação, ocasionou a morte de quase 100% os indivíduos do tratamento 8. Ressalta-se também que o substrato comercial (T1), só apresentou bom desempenho em relação a quantidade de nódulos. Infere-se que substratos alternativos à base de resíduos agroflorestais, quando empregados em proporções corretas, proporcionam mudas de elevada qualidade.
