Resumo: The following work analyses the influence of the United States in thepolitical thought of the argentine Domingo Faustino Sarmiento. Theobjective is to demonstrate that his travel through of that country, begunin 1847, were decisive in the configuration of his federal approaches.Sarmiento’s apologies for the North American model reachedsuch dimensions, that he even maintained that the Argentine provinceswould achieve the so longed-for modernity, if they were able to abideby the same system.
