THE EDUCATIONAL PRACTICES OF THE SANT'ANA DAUGHTER CONGREGATION IN THE EDUCATION OF DISABLED PARÁ GIRLS IN THE EARLY 20th CENTURY

Resumo: This article analyzes the shelter and charity policy from the Daughters of Sant'ana Congregation in the support and education of poor girls in Pará in the twentieth century. In this sense, the overall goal is: identify the educational practices of the Daughters of Sant'ana congregation. The methodological procedure is documentary, have as sources the following official documents of the state and the Gentil Bittencourt Institute (1909) and others. On the role of religious congregations in the practice of sheltering and early childhood education in Brazil in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries theorist Rizzini (2009), Boschilia (2005) among others. The results of the analysis sources revealed that this congregation was fundamental to the Project formation of the new Brazilian society, based on its policy of protection and education of poor girls in Pará, to make them followers of the principles Christians and examples of women for the family.

O presente artigo analisa a política de abrigamento e caridade a partir da atuação da Congregação Filhas de Sant’ana no amparo e educação de meninas pobres no Pará no século XX. Nesse sen- tido, o objetivo geral é: identificar as práticas educativas da congregação das Filhas de Sant’ana. O procedimento metodológico é de caráter documental tendo como fontes os documentos oficiais do estado e do Instituto Gentil Bittencourt (1909) e outras. Sobre a atuação das congregações religiosas na prática de abrigamento e educação da infância no Brasil nos séculos XIX e XX temos como aporte teórico Rizzini (2009), Boschilia (2005) entre outros.
