A rocha fosfática na Bahia: os projetos de Irecê e Angico dos Dias e o desenvolvimento socioeconômico na Região Oeste do Estado

This master’s thesis has its focus in analyzer the main aspects over the production on phosphate concentrated, in Bahia, with an accent on a production from 2007 till 2012 years, at Irecê and Campo Alegre de Lourdes municipalities, as well like a contribution which comes from phosphate fertilizers produced at the city of Luis Eduardo Magalhães, pinpointing its impacts on economics and social developments on the western region municipalities. The specific goals are to highlight the socials, economics and environmental aspects which determine over the phosphate fertilizers in Bahia; and, starting with data provided by ANDA, DNPM, MDIC/ALICE, AIBA, as well by data collected at the field of research, to show the apparent consumption of the fertilizers derived from the phosphate rock, indicating its contribution to the rise of the Municipal Human Development Index Education –IDMH (in Portuguese). Some questions were made to guide the research path, as: the phosphate fertilizers production has contributed for the development of the western of Bahia on a last decade? The industrial growing project which it was conceived by Bahia state government was directed for the human development on that region? Has the phosphate and fertilizers industry of production on that region contributed for the benefits on a quality of life at the municipalities with improved agriculture already advanced? In which manner it was possible to realize the real development on the phosphate municipalities’ consumers’ belongings’ to the Bahia state? After the realization of analyses based on the production and social-economic indicators from the researched municipalities, as well comparisons based from sources contacted, we can concluded there was a outstanding human grow on that region which consumes the phosphate industrial products as we can see on the Municipal Human Development Index Educaction-IDHM on the 2013 Atlas of Human Development. It was also concluded by the impossibility of the self-sufficiency on the regional production from phosphate concentrated on a short-term, which implies in a regular coexistence with imported product to stimulate the agricultural inputs on the western part of Bahia state, remarkably from soya, the flagship that production and the main state agricultural commodity.
