Tourism, a field of historical, social, cultural and leisure practices, is a means of promoting the development and defense of heritage, a necessary and possible relation. The research evidenced the use, for tourism purposes, of the post-industrial and productive space of the Mina do Camaquã, as a potential for local development. Vila Mina do Camaquã, offers a complete infrastructure for the reception of tourists, and has the Mina Outdoor Sports venture, which presents a wide portfolio of adventure tourism modalities. It is concluded, with the research, that there is a need for recognition - in fact - of the potential and appreciation of the historical-cultural and natural heritage, in view of the consolidation of the Mina do Camaquã, as a permanent tourist attraction of Rio Grande do Sul.
