When art and identity meet up: some perspectives from the 8th Mercosul Biennial

Resumo: It is the intention of this article making an approach of some issues around the 8th Mercosul Biennial, especially those geared to the interests of the curatorial team in developing an aesthetic perspective that has combined various elements like territory, geography and culture, all of them mediated by the “identity” category. From the works presented by five artists who participated of this Biennial, the article seeks to highlight a poetic view on some issues that are also at the center of political and social agendas of contemporaneity, like the interculturalism, the cultural boundaries, the ethnic conflicts, the diasporas and the decolonization processes among others.
