Resumo: The present article aims to document forms of living in Ludovicense, of modern architecture represented in Residence No. 220 on Avenida Magalhães de Almeida, an emblematic example of neocolonial architecture in the city center. The buildings in the neocolonial language began to be built from the 1930s on, in the city of São Luís, capital of Maranhão State, representing an impetus for modernization, with a new model of implementation, as well as a series of technical and constructive innovations, which differentiated it from colonial architecture. In this article we studied the spatial configuration and evolution, with the intention of documenting and demonstrating how this cultural heritage is being mischaracterized due to the absence of public policies aimed at this language.
