Forms of election of rectors in Chilean private traditional universities: a research proposal

Resumo: | The higher education system, especially universities, have been the subject of recurring analysis, with an emphasis on government structures as a key element in transforming them. This study intends to investigate the form of election of the highest authority in the Chilean Universities and the way in which it exercised the government in its institution. The problem comes in the understanding, first, considering the social, economic and cultural development of the country, second in the training of future professionals, and third, responsibility regards him as "institution" in the formation of citizenship, to purpose of building a more democratic and inclusive society. It is a descriptive, qualitative research documentary, whose design is not experimental, that is done through content analysis, mainly of academics, experts and official documentation from universities and corpus analysis of semi-structured interviews applied to experts. The results are of great importance and constitute a contribution to this emerging field of research, allowing illustrate the current situation of university governments in Chile and the consequences that treatment of its key elements has had on the democratic practice of their communities. |

Este estudio propone investigar la forma de elección de la autoridad máxima en las Universidades Chilenas y la forma con que ésta ejerce dicho gobierno en su Institución. La problemática se presenta en el entendido, primero, considerando el desarrollo social, económico y cultural del país, segundo, en la formación de futuros profesionales, y tercero, en la responsabilidad que le atañe como “Institución” en la formación de ciudadanía, a propósito de la construcción de una sociedad más democrática e inclusiva. Se trata de una investigación cualitativa, descriptiva, de carácter documental, cuyo diseño es no experimental, que se realizará mediante el análisis de contenido, principalmente de estudios académicos, de expertos y documentación oficial de universidades y el análisis del corpus de entrevistas semiestructuradas aplicadas a expertos.
