Gender and legal field: the woman in College Right (1960-1974)

This work aimed to analyze gender relations in the law field through narratives of women graduated from Faculty of Law of Pelotas/Brazil and Faculty of Law of Coimbra/Portugal. The survey time frame was comprised between 1960s and 1970s, periods of two totalitarian political regimes: the beginning of Military Dictatorship in Brazil and the end of Salazarist Regime in Portugal. The literature review was based on Pierre Bourdieu’s work, comprising the field perspective, besides other authors like Jean Scott, who enabled to approximate genders relations. The methodological approach used analysis of memory narratives, therefore Oral History. This work analyzed the presence of graduated women in the law field, which is occupied predominantly by the male gender, and how those women remembered their identity construction processes in the universe of professional law field.
