Resumo: We discuss in this essay experiences of international academic mobility of four young students from a community university in southern Brazil. The objectives sought here are the result of questions that take the form of the following questions: What motivations led them to study abroad and what did these experiences mean? It is a cut of a larger qualitative research, conducted through interviews, considering the pre-trip flirting and the dive during. For the analysis, we use the theoretical-methodological framework of the Grounded-Theory. Experiences have been marked by sensitive issues involving desire, dreams, determination, fears, and loneliness. We show the relevance of interpersonal relationships in overcoming difficult moments experienced during the exchange.

Os objetivos aqui pretendidos resultam de problematizações que assumem a forma das seguintes questões: Que motivações os levaram a estudar no exterior e como significaram essas experiências? Trata-se de um recorte de uma pesquisa maior, de natureza qualitativa, realizada através de entrevistas, considerando-se os flertes do antes da viagem e o mergulho do durante. Para as análises, servimo-nos do referencial teórico-metodológico da Grounded-Theory. As experiências mostraram-se marcadas por questões sensíveis que envolvem desejo, sonhos, determinação, medos e solidão.
