Considerations on Marvel and DC superhero comic reading and coping approaches: significance and ramifications

Resumo: This paper introduces the concepts of resilience and coping, from the positive psychology field, together with the opinions stated by super hero comic book readers from Belo Horizonte – MG. The purpose of the study is to analyze reader’s experiences regarding superhero comic book reading, having as a principle resilience and coping strategies. The relation between this reading and the coping processes is possible through the examples mentioned by the readers, which present at least one knowledge obtained from the reading of comic books and subsequently applied by the readers in their lives as well. This knowledge, when linked to at least one of the coping scales, allows the readers a way to overcome a problem or stressful event in their lives, until the point in which it´s possible.

O objetivo do estudo é o de analisar experiências do leitor quanto a leitura de histórias em quadrinhos de super-heróis, tendo por base os preceitos e as estratégias da resiliência e do coping.
